How Hillary Enriches Herself While Endangering America

() hillartAlexis deTocqueville a long time ago said America will be great as long as America is good. We have been up until this point, more than less. We have not been perfect but we have been good. Our system of having only two viable candidates for the top job which this year produced a choice between the vile and the crooked has caused us to come a cropper.

How can we be said to be good when a person who engaged in such scandalous conduct as using her job as our secretary of state for the purpose of enriching her herself after pledging that she would not do that becomes president?

Do you remember the uranium deal? Let me refresh your memory.

For starters, the deal which Russia ended up with control of a multitude of uranium mines, even some in the United States, had to be approved by the United States State Department which was under the control of Hillary Clinton. When the issue arose a State Department employee said: “To suggest the State Department, under then-Secretary Clinton, exerted undue influence in the U.S. government’s review of the sale of Uranium One is utterly baseless,”

As we have seen and as I will discuss later not only did Clinton have the power to do that she seems to continue to maintain that power over State Department employees to this day. Wasn’t it a high-ranking State Department official named Kennedy involved in trying to change classifications of emails relatively recently.

If Clinton was not involved why did she not honor her commitment to disclose the relationship between people involved in this transaction and her foundation?

You must read this which notes among other things:

As the Russians gradually assumed control of Uranium One in three separate transactions from 2009 to 2013, Canadian records show, a flow of cash made its way to the Clinton Foundation. Uranium One’s chairman used his family foundation to make four donations totaling $2.35 million. Those contributions were not publicly disclosed by the Clintons, despite an agreement Mrs. Clinton had struck with the Obama White House to publicly identify all donors. Other people with ties to the company made donations as well.”

The article notes how the Uranium One’s chairman after getting control of one fifth of the world’s Uranium mining stakes stretching from Central Asia to the American West just turned them over to Russia. Clinton hid her involvement in this.

No one seemed to investigate it. She acts as if she is above the law breaking agreements with the president and enriching her fund and having her toadies act indignantly when confronted with her action.

Now look at this bit of news: Russia has unveiled chilling pictures of its largest ever nuclear missile, capable of destroying an area the size of France.”

Guess when the planning for this new missile began. According to thisMoscow approved development of the SS-30 in 2009 as a replacement for the Cold War-vintage SS-18.”

Note the similarity of dates. Clinton okays giving Russia vast new uranium reserves and Russia decides to build up its nuclear missile stable with better and more ferocious missiles.

The author of the words last quoted said: What’s worrying is that Russia even wants to replace its old SS-18s.”  True, but what is more worrying is that the woman who could have prevented Russia from having this capacity took money from those who gave it to Russia when she could have stopped it.

Now she will be in a position where her power is increased many more times. Her actions with the uranium deal show that the most important thing to her was the money and not the safety of our nation. Do we want a person with that attitude controlling our county’s future?

  1. EXCLUSIVE: Clinton headlined fundraiser for campaign group which gave $500,000 to wife of FBI boss who investigated her emails – and it’s closely linked to Hillary’s bid for power

‘The fact that Hillary Clinton’s inner circle was raising substantial funds for Gov. McAuliffe’s PAC and this same PAC gave close to a half-million dollars to the campaign of the wife of the senior FBI official involved in the Clinton investigation sure looks like a payoff – a major payoff,’ said Ken Boehm, chairman of the National Legal and Policy Center.

  2. we are forced to accept the lesser of two evils

  3. I always thought that the one thing that could conclusively sink the Clintons would be their phony foundation. Financial corruption is a much better charge to level at them than accusations about the missing e-mails, and/or, the debacle in Benghazi. Everybody understands the nature of greed. We’ve all experienced it in some way, or, another.

    • There is more than one foundation, all based in Canada. There is the Clinton Foundation and Clinton Family Foundation to name two.

    • Khalid:

Financial corruption? The Clintons never took a penny; it all went to a separate entity the Foundation. As we have been told the foundation has done good work so who can complain about people giving money to something engaged in good work.

You are right. The pay to play was outrageous but no one dare investigate it.

      • wa-llahi! Mr.Comey’s got more surprises in store for the Clintons. He’s not in anybody’s pocket. Matt’s Hoover comparison might have legs.

Federal indictment of Bill for corruption, while, his wife is the sitting President, would be historical. How would that come down?

        • Khalid:

It is not Bill who is in trouble it is his wife. If it is not his wife it is Comey. It is a historic moment in a presidential race that is far from historic other than the offering of two highly disliked candidates.

  4. Matt, let me be less circumspect than you (to borrow Henry Barth’s word), and let me once again suggest the following:

The US has indeed been good, because we have been a nation of laws, not men, and of checks and balances.

That system allows any idiot to occupy the Oval Office, and checks and balances have kicked in to even things out. Until now.

I agree with you – I do not want a crook in the Oval Office, especially when there are no checks and balances due to her demonstrated destruction of checks and balances, with the help of adherents who are “for the children”

    • Elmer:

Yes, we could survive and did with the checks and balances but they no longer seem to be there and as time goes on when the Supreme Court is stacked with people of the mindset that America past is not what it should have been and they will make America into a new type land along with a president of the same mind then they checks and balances are gone forever. How difficult would it be for the Supreme Court as the ultimate arbiter of disputes to say that any regulation offered by a president does not have to be approved by Congress? A small example but with the willful people pushing agendas one of the checks can be easily ignored.

  5. From the aforementioned site:
“The NY Times reported the “Clinton Giustra Enterprise Partnership” collected about $33 million US tax dollars from Hillary’s State Dept between 2008 and 2013…..$25 million of which was passed back across the border to the US-based Clinton Foundation.”
And Hillary claims neither she nor her foundation benefited from her tenure in office.
    LOCK HER UP!

  6. Giustra sits on the Board of Directors of the Clinton Foundation.
In 2007, Bill Clinton and Giustra founded the Clinton-Giustra Foundation (Carlos Slim is now a major player in it.)

  7. Matt: Bigger bucks flowed to the Clinton Foundation (>$100 million) and don’t forget that a Russian Bank dealing in Uranium One Stock gave Bill Clinton $500,000 for a speech in Moscow, while the Uranium One deal was being consummated.
    Some Facts:
    POSTED ON AUGUST 26, 2016
MEMO SHEDS NEW LIGHT ON CLINTON-RUSSIA URANIUM SCANDAL
“Of all the Clinton Foundation/Clinton cash scandals, the one I’ve always considered most disturbing involves the Russians gaining control over a large share of America’s uranium. . . .
    What we knew already
In 2005, Bill Clinton and Frank Giustra (a Canadian) visited Kazakhstan. Giustra is a massive donor to the Clinton Foundation.
Giustra’s goal was to buy uranium mines in Kazakhstan. To this end, he and Bill Clinton met with leaders of the Kazakhstan government.
As a result of the visit, Giustra got major mining concessions, which were approved by the Kazakhstan government. Kazakhstan got Bill Clinton publicly to praise its alleged progress in democracy and human rights. The Clintons received a $31 million donation to their Foundation from Giustra, along with a pledge to donate $100 million more. (N.B. SOME REPORTS SAY GUISTRA PLEDGED HALF THE PROFITS OF URANIUM ONE TO THE CLINTON FOUNDATION IN PERPETUITY: CHECK IT OUT!)
“The deal with Kazakhstan made Giustra’s company, Uranium One, a major player. It proceeded to buy large amounts of holdings in the United States, and became an attractive target for Russia. A Russian company made a hugely attractive offer to purchase the company. Uranium One agreed to the purchase.
“The deal required approval by the U.S. government, including by the Secretary of State — Hillary Clinton. During the period when the deal with Russia was under consideration, the Clinton Foundation reportedly received $2.6 million from Uranium One. Its contributions were not disclosed by the Clintons, despite an agreement Hillary had reached with the Obama White House to publicly identify all donors. (AS MATT NOTED.)

“During this period, Bill Clinton also received $500,000 for a Moscow speech from a Russian investment bank that was promoting Uranium One stock. This was more than his usual speaking fee.

“Hillary Clinton duly approved the deal. It made the Russian company Rosatom one of the world’s largest uranium producers and brought Vladimir Putin closer to his goal of controlling much of the global uranium supply chain.

“The deal left huge amounts of U.S. uranium under the control of Russia. The New York Times estimates this share at 20 percent. But Peter Schweizer, the author of Clinton Cash, say that it amounts to up to 50 percent of projected U.S. uranium output.

    “What we have recently learned:

“When Hillary Clinton was questioned about the deal, she said she had no reason to intervene in the decision. But Raphael Williams of Circa reports that memos contained on WikiLeaks show Clinton was warned about Russian attempts to flex its muscle in uranium markets. And members of Congress also sounded the alarm.

“The State Department had obtained a “strategy paper” from Rosatom, the Russian company seeking to purchase Uranium One. The strategy paper alarmed U.S. diplomats because it confirmed fears that Russia was moving to control the long-term supply of nuclear fuel, shut Westinghouse out of the market, and extend Moscow’s influence over Europe.
“The resulting diplomatic cable lays out what Williams calls “a clear warning from career U.S. officials about why expanding Russia’s control of uranium markets was bad for the United States and for its allies in Europe.”
“In addition, members of Congress pointed to the dangers of the Rosatom deal. Sen. John Barasso said it “would give the Russian government control over a sizable portion of America’s uranium production capacity.” Rep. Peter King said it “would pose great potential harm to the national security of the United States.”
Clinton, then, had ample reason to intervene in the decision. But doing so would have been inconsistent with the interests of those who were donating so generously to her Foundation.
“Despite the warnings from her own diplomats and from Congress, Clinton let the deal go through.
“Who were the winners in the transactions that began with Bill Clinton’s visit to Kazakhstan and ended when the U.S. approved the Uranium One-Rosatom deal? The Russians, obviously, but not just them. (ANOTHER WINNER: Bill Clinton got his Moscow check for $500,000.)

Frank Giustra won big. So did the Clintons who raised tens of millions (HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS IN PROMISED DONATIONS), if not more, in this saga. Even Kazakhstan came away with something, though whether it contemplated Russia controlling its uranium is another matter.

    Only America is the loser.

    • Bill C., along those lines (excerpt pasted in):

      http://thefederalist.com/2016/10/27/much-russians-half-million-advisor-influence-hillary-iran/

The Clinton campaign has been complaining bitterly about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s possible ties to WikiLeaks’ daily dumps of campaign chairman John Podesta’s emails. My new investigative report, “Clinton’s Shadow Diplomat: Thomas Pickering and Russia’s Pipeline Sales to Iran and Syria, exposes Hillary Clinton’s own damaging ties to Russia and Iran while she was secretary of State. Her Foreign Affairs Policy Advisor Thomas Pickering was a paid director for the Russian company Trubnaya Metallurgicheskaya Kompaniya (TMK) from June 30, 2009 to June 26, 2012. TMK is majority-owned by Russian billionaire oligarch Dmitry Pumpyansky, a close Putin ally.
