Religious Sunday: Hate!

Last Sunday I set out my future schedule whereby I would discuss a certain topic on a different day of the week. Sunday is to be about religion, Monday about politics, etc. I changed Friday from being Free for All Friday to Free For Fun Friday – not that it changes anything it is just I like the use of four “Fs”.

I just want to remind you that the schedule so thoughtfully put together, as Trump would say, “no one in the world could have put together such a beautiful schedule”, I must interrupt it because of the need to examine what kind of prosecutor John Durham has been. I do that Monday through Friday in the upcoming two weeks.

My sermon today is about hate. Sometimes it seems to ooze out of folk especially those who follow Trump. The followers of Jesus were taught not to hate but to love. Love God with your whole being and love your neighbors as your self. That was the simple message that resonated throughout His teachings.

Has Trump ever done anything other than to stoke up hate? What do we see in America today? A more divided nation than we have ever seen in the past. People who profess to follow Christ overflowing with hate. Those people suggesting God sent Trump to America leaving us to question who sent Obama. Now they are wondering why God sent Covid-19 to destroy America.

Where does all the hatred stem from. Trump is the prime cause with his evil tweets constantly attacking people and turning them against each other. He tweeted: “I am happy to inform all of the people living their Suburban Lifestyle Dream that you will no longer be bothered or financially hurt by having low income housing built in your neighborhood…”  What was it that Jesus said about neighbors? Should not we try to help others?

Trump also recently tweeted a warning to “Suburban Housewives of America” saying that “Biden will destroy your neighborhood and your American dream.”  Is it the American dream too live in lily white neighborhoods while making the poor live in city ghettos. Mark 10:21 “And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”

Is there anything more hateful than setting one part of the people against the other? Yet some  people thrill in Trump’s rhetoric of hate. 1 John 3:17: “But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?”

Jesus talked a lot about the poor; so does the Old Testament. Proverbs 14:21 “Whoever despises his neighbor is a sinner, but blessed is he who is generous to the poor.”

Trump followers love Trump because he is against abortion. Yet no where in the Bible is there a word about abortion. If it were so important would it not have been mentioned?

Yet people condemn those who have abortions or provide that service. Matthew 7: 1-5 “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.”

Amen.

On another subject, Portland, Trump said: “‘If the Mayor and  Governor do not stop the Crime and Violence from the Anarchists and Agitators immediately, the Federal Government will go in and do the job that local law enforcement was supposed to do!’ Does anyone find it ironic that when the mayors and governors failed to properly respond to Covid-19, and it continues to this day, Trump did not feel the need to say “the Federal Government will go in and do the job that” the local government was supposed to do.

The political success of Russiagate lies in the vanishing of American history in favor of a façade of liberal virtue. Posed as a response to the election of Donald Trump, a straight line can be drawn from efforts to undermine the decommissioning of the American war economy in 1946 to the CIA’s alliance with Ukrainian fascists in 2014. In 1945 the NSC (National Security Council) issued a series of directives that gave logic and direction to the CIA’s action

  2. It’s an admirable thing for one to voluntarily “go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”

It’s quite something else for politicians to take what you have and give it to the poor to buy their votes.

  5. Here is a discarnate soul speaking from their
perspective about the reality of abortion.

    https://speakingofseth.com/index.php?topic=1549.0

Wow, you have the most provocative topics! Thank you! This is another really good one because it’s a very controversial issue and touches on religious views, morality, question of when a new life begins, rights of a fetus, and Seth’s saying that intent to kill is wrong. It seems to me that which type of abortion is not as important as the reality behind it (add to that also death during or soon after birth), which is pretty much the same and consistent with what he says about the purpose behind life and death of everyone in general.

I’ll just start by saying Seth had some things to say about abortion, both artificially imposed (by choice or therapeutic) and natural (spontaneous) abortion, better known as a miscarriage. Jane had a miscarriage at 3 months, Seth had a little bit to say about the why behind that as well. Here are a few quotes to get the ball rolling:

“It seems to you that any naturally aborted fetus has no physical life at all, that such life has been denied to it for some reason. Instead, the fetus experiences another level: physical life at a different scale, that in your terms would apply to the distant past.”

“The soul within the fetus cannot be destroyed by any kind of abortion,”

Rob: “I think it very likely that aborted fetuses and those infants who die early in “life” — say within a few months after birth, especially — never intended to stay long within camouflage (physical) reality to begin with; the consciousnesses within those small human structures came just to momentarily sample our world of matter, whether from inside the womb or out of it. Considering their viewpoints, it’s not tragic that they “die” unborn, or at such young ages, although in ordinary terms the parents involved will almost certainly mourn deeply. (Perhaps these notions will be of some limited comfort to those who have written us with related questions.)”

Rob: “On a more personal level, Jane herself naturally aborted a three-month-old fetus, less than a year after our marriage in 1954 (and nine years before she initiated these sessions). Seth has said very little about this event, nor have we asked him to. He did remark some time ago in a private session that the miscarriage spontaneously came about because the personality inhabiting the fetus “changed its mind,” and withdrew from the physical world. At some indefinite date we do plan to invite Seth to discuss the whole situation in detail.”
    —UR2 Section 6: Session 730 January 15, 1975

We think of abortions as being one-sided, i.e. the mother makes the choice to end the life of her fetus. But like everything else we experience, it is a cooperative venture. Some relief for someone trying to make the tough decision or is suffering guilt over it.

“And if the consciousness picks a mother who wants to abort, then the consciousness is only here for a short trip.”
    —TPS5 Deleted Session December 2, 1978

“In a natural state, many children would die stillborn for the same reasons, or would be naturally aborted. There is a give-and-take between all elements of nature, so that such individuals often choose mothers, for example, who perhaps wanted the experience of pregnancy but not of birth — where they choose the experience of the fetus but not necessarily [that] of the child. Often in such cases these are “fragment personalities,” wanting to taste physical reality, but not being ready to deal with it. Each case is individual, however, so these are general statements.”
    —NoME Chapter 1: Session 802, April 25, 1977

    “([Gert:] “Do you condone abortion?”)

We do not use such words as condone. The problem is an individual one. If you believe that abortion is evil and have one—it will be an evil. It is not basically evil, but that makes little difference to you if you believe that it is.”

    —TECS2 ESP Class Session, May 5, 1970

I’d still like to approach the fact that while said we cannot “kill” per se, the intention to kill is a bad thing and should be addressed. I realize women who have abortions do not have the express intent of killing behind them, and are done for other personal and emotional reasons (pregnancy by rape, incest or accident in a situation where a child would not be able to be properly supported, severely defective fetus, endangerment to the life of the mother). Some women may not even consider the fetus as a living human being, but just a part of their own body or tissue.

    Abortion

Seth ESP Class (12-2-78): Class Member: “Seth, isn’t it somewhat of
a waste if people have abortions all the time? To me it just seems
like a waste to become pregnant when all along whenever you just
thought of becoming pregnant, to have an abortion. It just seems
    like a waste.”

Seth: “It may be dumb. I do not know if it is a waste. For the
consciousness will come to life if it wants to. And if the
consciousness picks a mother who wants to abort, then the
consciousness is only here for a short trip. A look around. It is
like the seed from an apple tree who travels into the next yard but
does not mature. It looks around and tries again. Any consciousness
that wants to be born is born. And it picks a mother that wants to
carry a child all the way.”

    Seth ESP class (5-5-70):

Class Member P: “Do you condone abortion?”

Seth: “We do not use such words as condone. The problem is an
individual one. If you believe that abortion is evil and have one —
it will be an evil. It is not basically evil, but that makes little
difference to you if you believe that it is.”

Class Member V: “What about the life that is aborted?”

Seth: “The life in any case, if it is to be born in physical terms,
    will be born.”

Class Member V: “It will just find another body?”

Seth: “It will now or later and the child who will be born, will be
born. If an individual is meant, in his terms, to be born to you as
a child, if he has decided to do so and if you have decided to have
him as a child, if your past relationships for example have set up
this situation, then the situation will take place.”

Seth (Session 557): “Until the new personality enters, the fetus
regards itself as a part of the organism of the mother. This support
is suddenly denied at birth. If the new personality has not entered
earlier to any full extent, it usually does so at birth, in order to
stabilize the new organism. It comforts the new organism, in other
words. The new personality, therefore, will experience birth to
varying degrees according to when it has entered this
    dimension. . . .”

Seth (Session 802): In a natural state, many children would die
stillborn for the same reasons, or would be naturally aborted. There
is a give-and-take between all elements of nature, so that such
individuals often choose mothers, for example, who perhaps wanted
the experience of pregnancy but not of birth—where they choose the
experience of the fetus but not necessarily [that] of the child.
Often in such cases these are “fragment personalities,” wanting to
taste physical reality, but not being ready to deal with it. Each
case is individual, however, so these are general statements.

Seth (Session 874): Jane, for example, entered the fetus when it was
about three months old, and accepted this as a new life. You [Rob]
waited longer. Some personalities wait until just before birth. Some
do not thoroughly enter into the body until it is months after
birth. So there are no particular rules as to when the personality
enters the fetus in those terms, and meshes with the body
consciousness, which of course it must do.

  6. Be sure to get your two swords, or the modern equivalent, two firearms.

“He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one. It is written: ‘And he was numbered with the transgressors’; and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me. Yes, what is written about me is reaching its fulfillment.” The disciples said, “See, Lord, here are two swords.” “That’s enough!” he replied.” – Luke 22:36-38, NIV

  7. Off-topic: For William M. Connolly–
A few days ago, you expressed a desire for a proofreader. I’m your guy. Reasonably priced (surprisingly so, if I do say so myself). No charge, in most cases! Impeccable references from folks who went to the right high school, and from my siblings who went to “the right college.”

    • william m. connolly

GOK, thanks for the offer. But, I was only kidding . . .i write free flow and do not mind making mistakes . . . .also, as long as folks get the drift, I am satisfied . . .but thanks again for the offer

I write because I like to, like I play the piano because I like to . . .who reads, who listens, who heeds? Few do. That’s O.K. by me. I have fun using my fingers, my hands, exercising my mind and soul with rock & roll et alia.

  8. Wasn’t Obama’s stated goal the “fundamental transformation of America?” Our country hardly needed any such thing. That kind of rhetoric could only lead to a backlash from so many Americans. Isn’t that what we’re seeing with Trump’s popularity?

Matt, respectfully, sometimes I think Trump isn’t a good subject for your blog. That said, I am very much looking forward to your series on John Durham.

  9. How about Thou shall not kill? Is that in the Bible? When does the baby in the womb become a human being? The Pope said every life is sacred born and unborn. Are you calling the Pope a hater? Some use to joke that anyone who disagrees them is engaged in hate speech. Are you joking? If serious it is pretty sad to call half of America haters. Why are you judging them if it is improper to judge? 2.Trump has been vilified and smeared by lightweight liberals in the media for four years. They just call him names. They never discuss whether his tax policy works or doesn’t’?. Whether his judicial appointments are good? Whether his military buildup worked?. Whether his energy policy works? Whether his tariff and trade actions are good? Did he start any wars? 3. The vast majority of church going Christians vote Republican. People who don’t grasp economic issues usually vote Democrat. Under Obama 13 million more people were on food stamps and 8 million more in poverty with a shortage of jobs and a slow growth economy. Under Trump’s first three years he lifted millions out of poverty, reduced food stamp rolls by 8 million, created a booming economy with 7 million more jobs and had more job openings than those looking for jobs. His efforts worked. 4. What does it say about a person who believes in phrenology, alchemy or Russian collusion. All three were proven frauds

  10. William M. Connolly

I can’t read anymore after the first few sentences . . .for nearly four years you have spewed nothing by hate at Trump and his supporters . . . .comparing them to Hitler, Stalin, etcetera .

    Ha, ha, ha . . .now you preach against hate . . . . it’s a laugh . . .

    • William M. Connolly

Oh, the word “abortion” caught my eye. So, I offer this:

Matt doesn’t think “abortions” are “that important.” Killing the unborn? No problem, in Matt’s world view. He says Scripture would have mentioned it, if it were that important.

But the Bible says Mary and others are “with child”; so the Bible must consider the unborn a child, a human being, isn’t that so? Or did people thousands of years ago not know a pregnant woman carried a human being in her womb?

Is Matt arguing Scripture has no problem with killing children or killing human beings in the womb?

Apparently so. Matt sets himself above the scholars of the Catholic Church, most Christian Churches, the Muslim faith, and others, and sides with the pro-abortionists. He has to. Joe Biden is pro abortion and wants to codify Roe v. Wade. Joe said so.

What Matt’s sermon is about is killing in the name of Love, and mudslinging in the name of love, and allowing other persons’ properties to be destroyed by rioters in the name of love, and let’s face it, Matt’s sermon is a bit hypocritical. . . .after years of trashing President Trump.

Ah, yes . . . . .a sermon on love . . . .Leonard Cohen sang it true: “Destroy another fetus now, we don’t like children anyhow.” in his classic song “The End.”

But what about Genesis 16:11, “And the angel of the Lord said unto her, “Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son and shalt call his name Ishmael [that is, God shall hear], because the Lord hath heard thy affliction. . . .

      • Why do you not mention Trump’s historic position on abortion. This man does not have belief system that does not include something for him. Mentioning Trump during a discussion that would involve anything so naive as helping others (at a cost to yourself) is farcical.

        • william m. connolly

Trump is the only President to speak at the March for Life annual meeting in Washington D.C. I think his Catholic wife is a major influence on his pro life views. I think he’s been converted to the correct pro life view. No need to discuss the sins of the past.

Biden has recanted his many decades support of the Hyde Amendment. Biden has unequivocally stated that he will seek to codify Roe v. Wade, which reasonably read would virtually legalize abortion on demand throughout pregnancy. See my book: One Life: How the U.S. Supreme Court Deliberately Distorted the History, Science and Law of Abortion.
If you have any concern for unborn human beings, if you have any concern to lessen the killings of unborn human beings, your choice is clear. Trump supports Pro Life. Biden is unqualifiedly pro abortion on demand and pro taxpayer funding of abortions.

          • “If you have any concern for unborn human beings, if you have any concern to lessen the killings of unborn human beings, your choice is clear. Trump supports Pro Life. Biden is unqualifiedly pro abortion on demand and pro taxpayer funding of abortions.”

There are many more valid reasons to vote for one or the other for President other than their stance on abortion. The reason is that there will not be a change in Roe v. Wade regardless of who is elected. Presidential candidates drag out the same positions every four years and nothing ever changes on those issues. Guns will always be legal. Abortions will always be legal. Do you really think that if Biden is elected guns will become illegal? Do you really believe that if Bonespurs is reelected abortions will be illegal? Absolute nonsense. That is why voting is so hard for me to do, even though I do drag myself to the fucking polls every four years and pull the handle on the bandit again. For what? There are real issues that have to be changed in this country. Have to be taken on by the man or woman that occupies the highest political position in the world. But they do not do it. They are beholden to the lobbies that have gotten them elected and those are the behinds they kiss. Roe v. Wade overturned. Not bloody likely in a century. Not going to happen. Eight years of Reagan. No change. Four years of George The First. No change. Eight years of George the Second. No change. Three years of Spurs. No change. Why? Might as well overturn Wade v. Boggs.

By the way, Bill. No caps suits you much better. Caps are yelling and ranting. That’s for street corners and soap boxes and back rows at town hall meetings. You make a lot more sense without the caps. Seriously.

        • Trump paid for a number of abortions in his college days. I do not hold that against him. I am against abortion but I can understand how a young, spoiled, draft-dodging coward would want to avoid parenting a child. I have to give him props for that. I appreciate and respect his decision to have those abortions performed. Now that he is older and wiser he has fathered several children that he is proud of and they have been pretty good kids. Not exactly my cup of tea, but I certainly do see the good in several of them, especially Baron. I am also glad that he dodged the draft. I am fairly confident that if he went into the army he would have gotten several of his platoon mates killed if he served in Vietnam. But who knows? Its all hypothesis. He might have been a good twenty year old father and he may have been a valuable asset to his platoon. He might have even grown up to be President of the United States. But there again, it is all speculation on my part. A long shot at best.

          • Matt can you see it: You, Jim, Bob Williams , Bob Hutch, and Trump meeting up at the Marine Corps Birthday? What a time.
