Sing A Song of Mikepence

Blackbird

Sing a song of MikePence,

A belly full of wry.

That’s what Trump must of had

To go choose that guy.

Donald wanted someone

Hoping to change his fate

So he picked a Hoosier

As his running mate.

Trump thought himself clever

Playing to right wing hopes

Mike was in the cloakroom

Hanging Donald’s coat

Donald hoped he conned them

By making Mike his guy

When the shoes were polished

Mike could only sigh.

  1. Ilana Mercer has written an insightful short history of the ascendancy of “The Donald” entitled ‘The Trump Revolution: The Donald’s Creative Destruction Deconstructed.’ The Hillary supporters in the media will undoubtedly do their best to rewrite history (i.e., lie) when it comes to how Donald Trump repeatedly exposed them as mostly a bunch of frauds, impostors, and biased political hacks during the primary campaign season. ‘The Trump Revolution’ sets the record straight on all of this, and more, in thirty-one short chapters, and will be a valuable – and entertaining — fact-check resource.

  3. The Donald in his cups? He does not drink alcohol. Trump has chosen someone who knows how to operate deftly within the political establishment. It shores up a perception of an alleged, over touted weakness. A wise choice by a shrewd personnel manager.

  4. His grandfather was from the west coast of Ireland and drove a bus in Chicago for forty years. He is pro life, pro family and a traditional Christian conservative along the Reagan line. A great choice.

    • The Doonbeg Connection! Trump owns a fabulous golf resort in Doonbeg.

“Pence was born in Columbus, Indiana, one of six children of Nancy Jane (née Cawley) and Edward J. Pence, Jr., who ran a string of gas stations. His family were Irish Catholic Democrats. His maternal grandfather was an immigrant from County Sligo, and his maternal grandmother’s parents were from Doonbeg, County Clare. He was named after his grandfather, Richard Michael Cawley, a Chicago bus driver who came to the United States through Ellis Island.”

      • Henry:

You hit upon something. Do you suppose Trump picked Pence because his mother’s grandparents were from Doonbeg, County Clare?

I met Bill Bulger at a pub in Tubbercurry some years ago (1989-1990.) He was there for one of his son Brendan’s CCE competitions (Sligo Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann). He told me, as I recall, that Jim Brett’s family was from the Tubbercurry area. Everyone here has a relative in Boston.

    • NC:

He is everything Trump isn’t. He’s just for show and will have no say if there is a Trump Administration.

  5. I like Mike. Experienced. Principled. Conservative. From the Heartland.

    • Bill:

Mike will have no say in any Trump administration. He is just dressing on the cake.

      • Matt: I disagree. Of necessity, in managing a multi-billion dollar empire, Trump has learned how to delegate authority. Trump recognizes Pence’s expertise in executive and legislative matters. From the get-go, Trump has acknowledged he needs help in these areas. It is much more likely he will strongly rely on Pence’s expertise as a Congressman and Governor, especially when it comes to dealing with Administrative Agencies and Congress, and crafting new Legislation. Even in matters of Business, Trump vows to bring experts into his Cabinet (he names them) to help rebuild industries and bring jobs back to America. Trump may be an egotist, but he fully understands that its Trump’s Team, no he alone, that will revitalize and transform Washington D.C. and America.

        • Bill:

Trump has no record of public service. He is a man who only served himself. You think he is suddenly at age 70 going to become a different man. There is nothing in what he has said to show that. They guy won’t even release his tax returns – what is he hiding? You are defending a man who for sixty years of his life wore the clothes of a New York City Democrat as far as civil rights are concerned and believe in his 7th century he found a new purpose.
Pence might be a good guy in your mind but in Trump’s he is just another of his servants.
