Terrorist He Ain’t: The Fat Lady Has Not Yet Even Upstanded.

Life-Magazine-1967-02-24“The sentencing ends a sordid chapter in Boston history featuring FBI and government corruption that helped Bulger continue a reign of terror for decades and flee the city just ahead of an indictment” thus wrote Time magazine, November 15. The words “sordid chapter in Boston history” and “continue his reign of terror for decades” were also used by ABC News, Sky News in England (leaving out the FBI reference), the Belfast Telegraph, (I noticed that paper considers itself part of the United Kingdom), and the New Haven Register to name a few of the mimeographed reports flying throughout the world.

It is this type of reporting that demonstrates how people get misled and deceived. Let’s put it frankly, the closest there has been a reign of terror in Boston since its founding in 1630 was probably during the times of the witch trials; even the Mafia, an organization with many times the perversity of Bulger and whose criminal influenced dwarfed his never had its reputation reach the lofty level as having it said of it that it brought about a reign of terror. Not even in New York City when it had over a thousand members in five families and controlled many legitimate businesses and unions was that description used.

By the way has anyone heard it suggested that Stevie Flemmi or John Murderman Martorano or Howie Winter were involved in a reign of terror? Another thing to keep in mind is that in the early to mid Sixties more than 50 gangsters and those mistakenly thought to be their associates were murdered in Boston. While government witnesses Flemmi, Martorano and Salemme were involved in a good portion of those killings, Whitey had no involvement at all. Yet even those days when the notoriety of the murders had a big write-up in Life Magazine on February 24, 1967 (cover pictured above) which contained photographs of 41 men who were murdered, no one called it a reign of terror.

Next, the concept that Bulger was running amok for decades is also greatly at odds with the facts. Until he joined with the Somerville and Roxbury gangs in Winter Hill in late 1972 he was a nobody. Murderman said he had no idea who he was when he approached him at that time. Patrick Nee (Whitey’s partner in South Boston and member of rival Mullins gang) said when Howie Winter heard Whitey wanted to meet with him he had never heard of him.

While Martorano had already murdered around 8 people by the time he met Whitey and Stevie Flemmi who first met him in 1974 had murdered 13, Whitey had only one in his belt which was Donald McGonagle who he mistakenly murdered thinking it was Paulie McGonagle, a leader of a rival gang.

Whitey became a junior member of the Winter Hill gang that was headed by the tough, no nonsense, murderer Howie Winter with his two equally tough, cruel murderer buddies Joe McDonald and Jimmy Sims who shared power with Murderman the head of the Roxbury group. Until 1979 when the Race Fixing indictments came down, Howie and Murderman ran the show as witnessed by their meetings with Mafia under-boss Gerry Angiulo where they planned some of their hits.

Bulger and Flemmi took over in 1979. By late 1994 Whitey was on the lam. The decades boil down to about 15 years when it could be said he was co-boss of the non-Mafia rackets in Greater Boston. Hardly was it decades.

Yesterday Carmen Ortiz, the U.S. Attorney in Boston, started off by saying: “The myth, the legend, the saga of James Bulger is now finally over.”  She went on to say that “Mr. Bulger . . . was a terrorist and is a terrorist he terrorized individuals that crossed his path, a path that was driven by his desire for power for greed and for ambition.”

If you read that closely none of it makes sense. Myths and legends don’t end; persons aren’t driven by a “desire . . .for greed and ambition.”  But beyond those Yogi Berraisms the myth is hardly over when a person who is supposed to know what a terrorist is, and whose office is actually prosecuting a real terrorist, Joker Tsarnaev, enhances Whitey’s reputation by calling him a terrorist, which he clearly wasn’t.

We’re in the middle of the war on terrorism so we should be careful in using such words in a hyperbolic manner. Whitey was an evil man, a gangster, a callous individual who did the worst of crimes without a second thought, he murdered people. But he wasn’t a terrorist nor did he ever terrorize Boston.

And if we call Whitey a terrorist, how can the U.S. Attorney allow people who fit his category, some even worse than him, to roam freely on the streets of Boston. Or, for that matter, to bring them into the government boat and use them as witnesses. How also could the FBI justify its program of using terrorists to gather evidence and “keeping them safe” while they cooperate with the FBI?

Carmen also misspoke in another way. This story is far from over. It continues to this day because the FBI still is operating in the same manner as it did at the time of Whitey Bulger and right now, if Whitey is a terrorist, the FBI is cooperating and protecting terrorists who have climbed into its embrace as it did when it brought both Whitey and Stevie Flemmi onto its team as protected Top Echelon Informants.

The story will also continue until it is recognized that former FBI Agent John Connolly in protecting Whitey and Stevie was following the mandates of his job; and, until we get to the bottom of how it was that a mid-level vicious criminal who never infiltrated a legitimate business and whose true power base was in a small section of the City of Boston was promoted to such heights that the sentencing judge was worried that he had become the face of Boston.

This according to Weeks and others in the know. The drug dealers in Southie got their drugs from the same places drug dealers throughout America got them: It’s a long story; a forty-fifty years long story since drugs swept America during the Vietnam War. NSA links to St Petersburg FL Drug Ring
November 15, 2013 by Daniel Hopsicker

Skyway Global LLC, the St. Petersburg, FL company that owned the DC-9 airline busted in Mexico carrying 5.5 tons of cocaine, made its headquarters in a 79,000 sq ft building owned by Verint Systems (NASDAQ: VRNT), a foreign tele-communications company with a contract to wiretap the U.S. for the NSA through the communication lines of Verizon, which handles almost half of all landline and cell phone calls in the U.S. sky

Verint’s founder and CEO, Jacob “Kobi” Alexander, is a former Israeli intelligence officer who is today a fugitive from justice living in Namibia, where he has for several years been fighting extradition to the U.S.

On Verint’s Board of Directors is Lieutenant General Kenneth A. Minihan, former director of the NSA, which has led to speculation that the company today is a joint NSA-Mossad operation.img_bk_Bamford_Shadow_Factory

James Bamford’s 2008 expose of the NSA, “The Shadow Factory, The Ultra-Secret NSA from 9/11 to the Eavesdropping on America,” unearthed disturbing facts about how America’s two major telecom companies, AT & T and Verizon, had outsourced the bugging of their entire networks to what Bamford called “two mysterious companies with very troubling foreign connections.”

Verint is one of those two “mysterious companies.”
Definition of “making a start”: Two recent convictions

In “The NSA, Drug Trafficking, & the Crash of Cocaine2,” I reported that I first learned of that Agency’s involvement in drug trafficking in 2000, more than a decade before the super-secret NSA became a household name. The source for that story, Russ Eakin, had been the NSA’s “man on the ground” in Bolivia during the Cocaine Coup in the early 1980’s.

The discovery of previously-undisclosed ties between SkyWay and the NSA came in a review of documents after two men implicated in the drug trafficking network were recently convicted.

Recently Douglas McClain Jr, was sentenced to 14 years for money laundering in Federal Court in San Diego. McClain was the president of Argyll Equities, the dodgy private bank in Texas which purchased the drug-running DC-9 for SkyWay.

Who was it who said capitalism will destroy itself from within willing to put a price on anything? Is it any surprise our generals go to the highest bidders.

Verint “offers its products to law enforcement, national security, intelligence, and civilian government agencies to detect, investigate, and neutralize criminal and terrorist threats; and detect and thwart cyber-attacks.”

Documentary on the Detroit Sleeper Cell that Wasn’t

DETROIT — It’s been about a decade since the “Detroit Sleeper Cell” case imploded and ended up being a big embarrassment to the Justice Department and the FBI.

You might recall, shortly after Sept. 11, 2001, four men were charged in Detroit with operating a sleeper cell that was plotting to pull off terrorist acts. In 2003, two of the four men were convicted of terrorism charges.

But the defense learned that the government withheld information that might have helped their clients, and eventually in 2004 U.S. District Judge Gerald Rosen vacated the terrorism convictions. Essentially, the judge concluded the case was nonsense.

Nichols says bombing was FBI op

Detailed confession filed in S.L. about Oklahoma City plot

    Feb. 22 2007

The only surviving convicted criminal in the April 19, 1995, bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City is saying his co-conspirator, Timothy McVeigh, told him he was taking orders from a top FBI official in orchestrating the bombing.

A declaration from Terry Lynn Nichols, filed in U.S. District Court in Salt Lake City, has proven to be one of the most detailed confessions by Nichols to date about his involvement in the bombing as well as the involvement of others.

The declaration was filed as part of Salt Lake City attorney Jesse Trentadue’s pending wrongful death suit against the government for the death of his brother in a federal corrections facility in Oklahoma City. Trentadue claims his brother was killed during an interrogation by FBI agents when agents mistook his brother for a suspect in the Oklahoma City bombing investigation.

The most shocking allegation in the 19-page signed declaration is Nichols’ assertion that the whole bombing plot was an FBI operation and that McVeigh let slip during a bout of anger that he was taking instruction from former FBI official Larry Potts.

      1. Thanks for the Detroit Sleeper Cell case – I want to do a post on it.

2 I’ll hopefully read Aaronson’s book when it comes out.

      3. We can’t possibly believe Terry Nichols because he is not an FBI informant. If he were, then everything he says would be considered Gospel and he’d be marched before a Grand Jury and become a witness at trial like Youssef Hmimssa in the Detroit case. You seem not to understand the basic rule of the FBI: imprisoned criminals or other witnesses who say things the FBI wants to hear are telling the truth are welcome; those in the same position who say things the FBI does not wish to hear are lying. Of course, only the FBI can well who is lying or telling the truth.

    The Necessary Embrace of Conspiracy
    by Robert Shetterly

Several years ago I gave a talk on Martha’s Vineyard about many of the people whose portraits I’ve painted in the Americans Who Tell the Truth series. I spent some time talking about the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. When I talk about King, I like to focus on his last year — the period when, defying the advice of many of his advisors in the civil rights movement, he spoke against the Vietnam War, equating racism with imperialism. King felt bound to make the point that the forces of capitalism, materialism, and militarism that were driving segregation were also driving the war, and until we confronted the source of the problem, the abuses would continue. It was April 4, 1967, in Riverside Church in New York, that he made that declaration. A year to the day before his assassination.

It has always confounded me every year when we celebrate Dr. King’s life that no mention is made of that Riverside Church speech in the major media. We are always treated to sound bites of the 1963 I Have a Dream speech. That speech’s oratory is as powerful as it is non-confrontational. Which is why it is re-played for modern audiences. Dr. King was about confrontation. Non-violence and confrontation, each ennobling and making the other effective. In 1967 he said, “… my country is the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today.” And he explained how our economic system thrived on exploitation and violence, or, as Emma Goldman put it, “The greatest bulwark of capitalism is militarism.” This was probably the most important speech King ever gave and not playing it when we ostensibly honor him, is tantamount to castrating him morally and intellectually. Just as there is a long history of White America castrating black men, there is an equal legacy of Elite America cutting the most important truths of our social prophets out of the history books. We pay homage to King’s icon, the cardboard cutout, but not to his strongest beliefs and his most cogent analysis of our problems — to what vision called forth his courage. And, if we think that he spoke the truth, to censor that truth is to promote a curious kind of segregation. He is segregated, not for the color of his skin, but for the accuracy of his perception, how close to the bone his words cut. We can’t bear to hear the sound of truth’s knife scraping on hypocrisy’s bone. Only people who actually want to change the system dance to that music or want it to be heard.

Equally important, and part of the same neglect, is the intentional ignoring of the facts of his death. In my talk on Martha’s Vineyard I spoke about William Pepper’s book, An Act of State: The Execution of Martin Luther King, Jr. Pepper had been James Earl Ray’s lawyer. Ray was the man convicted of killing King. But both Pepper and the King family were convinced that Ray was innocent. The King family hired Pepper to represent them in a suit; they asked only $100.00 in damages to clear Ray’s name. Before the trial came to court in 1999, Ray had died in prison. The jury determined that King had been assassinated by a conspiracy involving the Memphis police, the Mafia, the FBI, and the Special Forces of the U.S. Army. Ray, the patsy, had left town before the shot was fired. Pepper had confessions from people involved from each of the organizations named. The verdict was barely mentioned in the U.S. media then and is not mentioned every year on the anniversary of his death. Why?

After my talk on Martha’s Vineyard a man came up to me and said, “I enjoyed your speech and was with you until you started that conspiracy stuff about MLK, Jr.” I said, “That’s not conspiracy. What I told you are facts.” End of conversation.

I think we’re confronted with two conspiracies here: one to commit the crime, the other to ignore it even when the facts are known. ( Two sides of the same coin.) The man who accused me of slipping into the neurotic, aliens-are-among-us land of conspiracy nuts was unable to hear the evidence, perhaps because he was so utterly convinced by our government and media that conspiracies don’t exist, people who espouse them are dangerous fruitcakes, and if you begin to think like that, your whole house of cards wobbles then topples. Who wants that? Better a standing tower of marked cards, than having to admit the game is rigged and the ground is shaking.

America is steeped in conspiracy, and even more steeped in propaganda that discredits those who try to expose the conspiracies. Whether we’re talking about MLK, Jr., JFK, RFK, Iran-Contra, 9/11, or, most importantly, the status quo, anyone who works to uncover the truth is branded a “conspiracy nut” and discredited before any evidence has a fair hearing. The government/corporate/media version is THE VERSION. Anything else is illusory.

In fact, the cultural success of labeling investigative reporters and forensic historians, and, simply, anyone who tries to name reality, “conspiracy nuts” is perhaps the most successful conspiracy of our time. Well, not the most successful. That prize goes to the conspiracy to give corporations all the rights of individual persons under our Constitution. That conspiracy has codified and consolidated corporate power so that it controls our lives in almost every meaningful way. It controls the election funds of our candidates, and them once they are in office. It controls our major media including public broadcasting. It controls the content of our television programming. It controls how are tax dollars are spent making sure that the richest get the most welfare. It controls the laws, the courts, the prison system and the mind numbing propaganda that we are the greatest democracy on earth. It controls the values with which we raise our children. It controls our ability to dispense justice. It controls how we treat nature, how we deface our land with strip malls, and blow the tops off our mountains — a form of corporate free speech. It dictates our modes of transportation. It controls our inability to respond to true crises like climate change. It attempts to create a spiritual deficiency in every person that can be filled and healed only with stuff — and no stuff is ever enough.

As Richard Grossman puts it, “Isn’t it an old story? People create what looks to be a nifty machine, a robot, called the corporation. Over time, the robots get together and overpower the people. … For a century, the robots propagandize and indoctrinate each generation of people so they grow up believing that robots are people too, gifts from God and Mother Nature; that they are inevitable and the source of all that is good. How odd that we have been so gullible, so docile, obedient.”

It is obvious to say that we have been engineered into a culture that values competitive consumption and consumers instead of community cooperation and citizenship. Capitalism with its obsessive and necessary appetite for consumption, expanding markets, resource depletion, and increasing profits has consumed democracy. Have you ever watched a small snake swallow a large frog? The snake’s hinged jaw stretches wider and wider, squeezing the frog millimeter by millimeter into its gullet until finally the snake looks like the Holland Tunnel might if it had devoured the Titanic. Then the acids and enzymes do their corrosive work. The frog becomes the snake. And the snake claims it is the frog. Capitalism has gulped down democracy and claimed it is democracy. When, immediately after 9/11, President Bush advised Americans to demonstrate their love of freedom and their resistance to terrorism by courageously, selflessly, hurrying to the mall to buy something, he was speaking as the snake that identifies itself as a frog. He was asking us to play a little game with our brains’ synapses, replace the snake icon with the frog’s. Sadly, he may also have been speaking about democracy in the only way that he can understand or recognize it. And, for him, Christianity has been another tidy meal for the snake.

Perhaps this switcheroo is nowhere more obvious than in the military /industrial complex. We are told that the vulnerable frog needs protecting. The threats are grave. So we fork over our money and children’s lives for war and weapons. We are told that we are building security and peace. More lives. More weapons. What we aren’t told is that the largest US export to the world is weapons. What we aren’t told is that enormous fortunes are being made from the arms trade. What we aren’t told is that the more precarious and unstable the world is, the better the business for the arms dealers — that the real promotion is not for security and peace but insecurity and war, that the lives of our children are the necessary collateral damage for this monster. What we aren’t told is that the only real security is in cooperation, conservation, and fairness, not imperialism. The frog, who is a snake, wrapped in a flag, pleads for patriotism and counts the cash. The snake’s forked tongue is a barbeque fork on which we’ve all been roasted.

    I’d call that conspiracy.

The neocons have claimed, with some accuracy, that they can create reality faster than we can react: the deed is done, now deal with it. The troops have invaded, Halliburton, Blackwater, and Lockheed signed their contracts, the prisoners are tortured, your email is bugged, the resources for social programs are gone, the laws are changed, the Wal-Mart is built, the sludge dump has already polluted the aquifer, truth is hollowed out —- catch me if you can! How is that not conspiracy?

The cooks & the crooks create a new status quo, legalize it, propagandize it, mythologize it, fundamentalize it, slather it with fear and patriotism, and force feed it to the complacent, sedated cow we call America. How is that not conspiracy?

Of course, ever since the Constitution was signed and didn’t free the slaves or give the vote to women, poor folks, Native Americans and freed blacks so that people with power and money could continue to profit, America has been a conspiracy against itself. It’s been cowboy grilling his own heart over a smoke & mirrors campfire, a CEO with inherited wealth and three hundred years of patrician, affirmative action crooning “Only in America.”

The reason we can’t talk about conspiracy is because it is the modus operandi. It isn’t the elephant in the room, it is the room itself. We all live there. We can impeach a few elephants, and we should, but the architecture is in place. And they control it.

When I was in school, I was reminded – repeatedly — to avoid using an indefinite pronoun without identifying whom it refers to, as in, “They are coming to get us,” … or, “They control everything.” Who are They? It’s bad practice to think and write like that. Without reference it just sounds like paranoia. But the hell of it is that it’s damned hard to say who the They are that are in conspiracy to destroy democracy and, by exploitation, nature. Did They do it on purpose or merely discover by serendipity, like cavemen seeing copper ooze out of a rock by a fire, the wondrous possibility and power of what they had found. For instance, the invention of the TV was not a conspiracy. But once the realization of how TV could be used to submerge the public in a lobotomizing swamp of advertising, sound bites, inactivity, community destruction, titillation, false history, empty myth, consumption, and complicity in making fortunes for the sponsors, the program was clear. Conspiracy was the silent partner in the euphemism good business practice. And, once they saw the implications of giving corporations First Amendment rights, they were home free.

    Time to re-think conspiracy.

We need to embrace conspiracy in two ways. One, admit that it’s real, its quotidian, it’s the fabric of our lives, the mercury in the air, the dioxin in the water, it’s filling the airwaves and the marketplace and the courts and the halls of Congress before we even get out of bed every morning. Two, counter it with a conspiracy of our own. On our side we have the fundamental fact that although the corporate They can alter many of our realities, they can’t alter Reality. They can’t change the behavior of Nature. They can sell off the rain forest, but they can’t leverage the effect of cutting it. They can keep the mileage of cars poor so we’ll buy more gas, but they can’t alter the amount of oil in the ground or the damage to the atmosphere. They can privatize every human interaction and every natural resource, but they can’t privatize the laws of nature. They have conspired to change reality. We must conspire to live in harmony with Reality.

In the same way, they can conspire to kill Martin Luther King, Jr., but they can’t totally eradicate the truth of who did it and why.

Con + spirare, from the Latin. To breathe together. Those are the roots of conspiracy. Breathing together doesn’t sound like an activity of the ideologically deracinated whispering seditiously in a dank cellar or a board room, foul breaths denting a weak flame flickering over a candle nub, gunpowder or greed blackened fingers setting a timer, the whites of creased eyes glinting like knives with treason, murder, power, and deceit. Con + spirare sounds like healthy men and women standing in the sun figuring out how in the hell they are going to take care of each other and their aging mother Earth and love life while doing it. Breathing together, sharing the same air, plotting to make sure that what’s mine is yours, conspiring to save their self-respect, their ideals, the future for their children.

I want to be part of a conspiracy. Pervasive, populist, revolutionary, and totally transparent. Grassroots. Idealistic. Simplistic. Life-affirming. Community building

A conspiracy to make the common good and the love of nature the common denominator of every economic transaction.

And the simple truth is either we start breathing together, conspiring big time, right out in the open, nakedly, unashamedly, or we will have conspired in secret, by default, in our own demise.

We have let them breathe for us, and they have stolen our breath, our air, our spirit.

Secret con + spirare is death. Open con + spirare is life.

Conspiracy is dead. Long live conspiracy!

Shetterly writes too long and with too much preaching and highly discursively. He has good points but obscures them in an overwhelming shotgun of words. Yes. the Riverside speack by MLK was his best and most courageous. It has always been my favorite. Yes, the idea that corporations are person is absurd: person’s have limited lives, corporations may go on for ever; person’s can go to prison, corporations can’t; person’s can’t be taken private while corporations can; person’s are created by the state while people are created by other people. The differences are vast and if the state can create something it surely can limit its speech. The first Amendment spoke of people not things created by the state. I’ve never heard of anyone charge with murdering a corporation.

Did The CIA Assassinate JFK? Former FBI Agent Dedicated To Case Believes He Knows Answer
    November 16, 2013 11:43 PM

On Friday Nov. 22, 1963, less than an hour after he had arrived in Dallas for a rally, President John F. Kennedy was gunned down.

Now, 50 years later, we’re hearing from a man who’s dedicated his entire life to figuring out what really happened that day, and he says he knows the truth.

“I smelled a rat,” said William Turner.

He has seen it more times than he cares to count. The grainy Zapruder film captured a pivotal moment in American history — the shot seen and heard around the world.

President Kennedy was shot in the head and rushed to a Dallas hospital. There was nothing doctors could to do save him.

Turner saw the aftermath first hand, arriving in Dallas just hours after the assassination.

“It was a somber and eerie situation,” he said. “It was half dark and people were crying.”

Turner was a G-Man — an FBI agent from 1951 to 1961 — with counter espionage and major crime cases his specialty.

However, He grew increasingly concerned by the way J. Edgar Hoover was running the bureau. Hoover found out and cut Turner loose.

So, he parlayed his investigative talents into becoming a journalist. His very first assignment was to head to Dallas to cover the breakdown of security during the assassination.

He scoured Dealey Plaza, asking questions, and using former FBI colleagues as confidential sources.

“I conducted the investigation and had two pieces of information that I thought might be pertinent,” Turner said.

Witnesses, including a police officer, told him they thought there was a second shooter.

“He thought he heard three shots from an upper area equally spaced,” said Turner. “A woman ran up to him from the direction of what we now know as the Grassy Knoll and the bushes there, and said ‘they were shooting from the bushes.’ “

The Warren Commission concluded in the official government report there was a lone gunman — Lee Harvey Oswald.

“The bushes are a good distance from the supposed sniper perch of Oswald,” said Turner. “I tucked that in my bonnet and it demonstrated there were at least two shooters.”

Turner was one of the first to report that. Days then turned to hours, which turned to decades. A lifetime of research led Turner to a shocking conclusion — the Kennedy’s murder was choreographed by our own CIA.

“I think what happened was a capacity for assassination was set up by (a) CIA base in the Everglades called Point Mary. That’s where they trained Cuban snipers,” said Turner.

He says two of those Cuban snipers were sent to assassinate the president. The CIA and Kennedy had a falling out after the 1961 Bay of Pigs invasion in Cuba. After the failed plan to oust Fidel Castro, it’s reported that Kennedy promised to smash the CIA into a thousand pieces.

But would the CIA really plot to kill a U.S. president?

“I believe the mafia was allied with the CIA in assassinating Kennedy, and I think we’ve proven that and should go ahead with closure — designating it a conspiracy and not a single man’s work,” said Turner.

It’s a tangled web. Turner believes President Lyndon B. Johnson worried a full investigation could reveal plans to assassinate Castro — a finding he feared could escalate into a nuclear war with Cuba and their soviet allies.

“National security is used as an excuse for all kinds of ridiculous activities and the failure to investigate the assassination of JFK was one of their worst failures,” said Turner.

  8. This just in…

PBS show on JFK assassination ‘rigged’ and ‘biased,’ author says Josiah Thompson, author of “Six Seconds in Dallas,” said he was “outraged” by a “Cold Case: JFK,” a “Nova” special in which he appears, because it short-changed evidence of a second gunman. Friday, November 15, 2013, 6:42 PM In Wednesday’s Nova special on the JFK assassination, private investigator Josiah Thompson is an avuncular presence, repeatedly explaining what happened on Nov. 22, 50 years ago in Dallas. But yesterday the author of Six Seconds in Dallas said he was “outraged,” calling the program “rigged.” He wasn’t accusing “Cold Case: JFK” of faking or staging any tests, but said the program failed to fully examine acoustic evidence that suggests four shots were fired that day, because doing so might have derailed the show’s conclusion, that Lee Harvey Oswald was probably the only gunman. “It was very reminiscent of what CBS News did in defending the Warren Commission in 1968 and successive years,” Thompson said. “… It was biased and cooked at the beginning.” Read more at http://www.philly.com/philly/news/Novas_JFK_show_rigged_and_biased_author_says.html#ct7seDJx5ey0yCmz.99

  9. Folks: I condemn the FBI/DOJ for disinformation, propaganda, lying to the public, covering up, scapegoating, framing individuals and getting in bed with career gangsters and multiple murderers. I criticize the FEDs for doing too little to control drug trafficking and drug diversion from Big Pharm. I criticize the FEDs for Imperialism, Militarism and putting loafers on the ground all over the world and spying on us, we the American People, and our friends, our Allies. 2. Here’s what I don’t criticize the FEDs for: 9-11: 9-11 WAS NOT AN INSIDE JOB. It’s lunancy to say so. I don’t believe the FBI/DOJ had anything to do with 9-11; it’s a conspiracy theory that is beyond far-fetched; it’s crazy. 3. I believe the FBI/DOJ/Homeland Security mishandled the Boston Marathon Terrorist Bombers, especially because Russia EARLY ON had alerted the FEDs that the elder brother was on “a watch list.” and still he was allowed to travel back and forth to Russia to consult his Chechnyan buddies; 4. I accuse the FEDs of negligence, not intentional murders. The FEDs were not materially involved in JFK’s killing, MLK’s killing, RFK’s killing, the Oklahoma City bombing, the 1993 attack on the WTC or 9-11. If this blog wanders into those dead-end roads, the blog will be dismissed as the work of nutcases. Because of the pervasiveness of the FEDs, their fingerprints can be found not far from any crime scene; they may have mishandled Terri McNichols (is that his name?) and others, but negligence is not to be confused with an intention to kill. 4. I sometimes think the FEDs are behind Psy-Ops campaigns trying to turn honest criticism of the FEDs into malarkey. We’ve got legitimate gripes on this blog, we Bostonians have suffered much due to the FEDs’ negligence. Let’s fix that; let’s get the FEDs to fess up and stop covering up. Why waste time on borderline idiotic ancient conspiracy theories? Don’t be misled by the Dis-Information Campaigns and Conspiracy Campaigns. Some of them are orchestrated by the FEDs as part of their Psychological Operations against the American People. When Homeland Security Chief Janet Napolitano said two days after the Boston Marathon Terrorist Attack that the two Chechnyans “acted alone;” as lone wolves, before the investigation had even begun, that was FED Propaganda and FED Disinformation. So were the lies around Benghazi and Fast and Furious; so is the TEI program; and so are the lies of Flemmi, Martorano, Nee, Salemme, etc. known perjurers held out as plausible historians by the FEDs, Howie Carr, “the corrupt fatso”, and the rest of the Boston Press.
So, that’s my humble opinion. It would be a very boring world if everyone agreed with me, but it would be a better, wiser, happier, healthier world if the vast majority agreed with me, in my humble opinion. Is that “ironical” enough? So keep your conspiracy theories if you will, but as for me, “I disagree!”

    • Dear William,

I agree with the need for credibility; surely we have much to learn from the sad fate of Jean Allan Sovak, who has had to flee this country due to circumstances by which she has described how she believes many parties conspired to steal her family property. They also sought to steal her credibility. Credibility is critical in advancing any message.

Surely discussion here should be free, but surely it should remain in a realm where core conclusions are well-reasoned and well-supported. You are much more blunt, but let me say that I agree that credibility may be damaged if discussions stray into fields where allegorical demons, chupicabras, and gorgons frolic.

Even if there are valid claims to be made, surely we would not willfully want this blog to be “declared incompetent” by a wider audience of readers, lest that pedagogical quest for greater awareness and outreach be lost.

      Sincerely,
      Jay

    • Well Bill:

Swearingen contends that the conspiracy was covered up by the FBI, an effort that continues to this day through the agency’s unwillingness to disclose key details about the events surrounding Kennedy’s death. see http://www.lewrockwell.com/pr/new-book-fbi-cia-jfk-killing.html

In 1979 FBI Supervisory Special Agent Dennis O. Williams moved across the country when he was promoted from the FBI’s Los Angeles Division to a supervisory position at FBI Headquarters. Soon after his arrival, Williams discovered that the mover had defrauded the FBI by billing for a higher weight of his household goods than actually existed. As Williams pursued the matter, he discovered a cover-up at FBI HQ; his attempts to expose this conspiracy resulted in his receiving threats and becoming the subject of retaliation. Though an investigation by the FBI Washington Field Office demonstrated that Williams was correct in his suspicions, the cover-ups continued for decades, eventually leading to a conspiracy to deceive the Senate Judiciary Committee regarding an inquiry into the involvement of Thomas J. Pickard.

Pickard was the acting director of the FBI when 9/11 occurred, despite Williams’ repeated warnings to the White House that Pickard did not have the integrity for such a position. The 9/11 Commission report reflects that the Phoenix Division of the FBI produced a memorandum dated July 10, 2001, advising FBI HQ that an inordinate number of supporters of Osama Bin Laden had attended civil aviation universities and colleges and would be in a position to conduct terror activity against civil aviation targets. Williams believes that Pickard’s testimony that no managers at FBI headquarters saw the Phoenix memo before September 11 constitutes a red flag indicating a conspiracy to defraud the 9/11 Commission.

Conspiracy of Silence: The Franklin Cover UpConspiracy of Silence, a documentary listed for viewing in TV Guide Magazine was to be aired on the Discovery Channel, on May 3 1994. This documentary exposed a network of religious leaders and Washington politicians who flew children to Washington D.C. for sex orgies. Many children suffered the indignity of wearing nothing but their underwear and a number displayed on a piece of cardboard hanging from their necks when being auctioned off to foreigners in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Toronto, Canada.

      • That sure is a lot to read!

      • I hope this response is helpful and illuminating and that you take it in good humor. It is, after all, just a counter-argument. With all due respect, your “reading list” is biased and unbalanced. You’ve cited a lot of conspiracy theorists. How many books/articles have you read debunking the conspiracy theorists? How many mainstream historians are on your list? I believe that the DOJ/FBI framed Connolly and Rico, and I too am upset that in some 250 questionable deadly shootings involving FBI agents, the DOJ/FBI found every one “justifiable”. But in all 250, no one credibly suggested that the FBI planned and authorized those shootings beforehand. I too could cite thousands (1000s) of books and articles that attest to the validity of ASTROLOGY. It doesn’t make it true. I don’t believe them. There are knowledgeable historians throughout America who have studied the FBI. There are good critical books about the DOJ and FBI like “RICO”. There are many good books and articles that are very critical of the FBI/DOJ. Matt himself and Matt’s posts and Matt’s blog and Matt’s contributors present excellent, fact-filled, reasonable, reliable, valid criticisms. Then there are the conspiracy theorists alleging the FBI is killing Americans or is in the business of covering up killings of Americans. The FBI deals with murderers, terrorists, drug dealers and other felons: this is not news. It’s their job; it’s their business to do so. Do they negligently manage some killers (like Martorano, Nee and Flemmi), some TEIs, some terrorists? Yes. There’s no doubt about it. Is the FBI not fully forthcoming with the American People: No Doubt. Too much secrecy? Yes! Is there much work to be done to improve the FBI’s PERFORMANCE, transparency and its interactions with gangsters, terrorists, drug-pushers, aliens, wackos? Yes, there is no doubt. HOWEVER, I DON’T CARE HOW MANY BOOKS AND ARTICLES YOU CITE ABOUT “Conspiracies” or “ASTROLOGY”, the bulk of evidence does not support a theory that the FBI/DOJ is the equivalent of “Murder Incorporated” nor that we are ruled by our Stars. It seems to me that many theorists ignore (a) countervailing facts; (b) the weight of the evidence; (c) common sense; and (d) the views of the bulk of mainstream historians and the bulk of law enforcement experts. I don’t trust our government, either, especially its overly intrusive Spy State functionaries. I agree that the Police State/Spy State does harass innocent individuals and intrudes upon our privacy rights. I don’t like the trends. I don’t believe, however, that the FBI/DOJ is planning murders or actually intentionally executing people with malice aforethought. THE FBI may have flubbed certain investigations and mishandled killers as it did in Boston; the DOJ should never have used Flemmi or Salemme (car bombers)as TEI or as Witnesses. The FBI/DOJ went too far in getting in bed with these vile serial killers and leniently treating other killers like Martorano and Weeks. The FBI was gullible and was used by the killers. BUT the FBI DID NOT DESIGN, CARRY OUR OR COVER UP killings; it did not plan 9-11, nor THE KENNEDY ASSASINATION, nor the Lockerbie bombings, nor the Oklahoma City bombing, nor THE BOSTON MARATHON TERRORIST ATTACK, NOR OTHER NEFARIOUS ACTS OF MURDER OR TERRORISM IN THIS COUNTRY AND ABROAD. Negligent? Maybe! Should have kept a closer eye on the Tsarnaev brothers and on the 9-11 terrorists? Perhaps, so. Co-conspirators with those terrorists? Absolutely not!!!! We have lived through those acts of terrorism. We have read exhaustively contemporaneous accounts and listened to all the facts, theories and explanations. We still have questions. But we have not concluded as some people have that our government deliberately planned and intentionally facilitated mass murder of American citizens. Historians tell us that the CIA no doubt carried out assassinations (Diem) and attempted assassinations (Castro). No doubt even today does our government excessively meddle in foreign affairs, in other countries’ business. Contemporary writers have convinced us that our government no doubt bungled Benghazi, Fast & Furious, and many other operations. The FBI/DOJ has bungled too many operations, but they’re not conspiring to kill us, even the most crankiest and most critical of us, like me, can’t buy that. But I do agree that it is a legitimate avenue to explore and there are legitimate questions to ask whether the FBI continues to deal inappropriately with killers who continue to kill and whether the FBI is turning a blind eye to the actions of certain TEIs, including killers, gangsters, radical Muslims and drug dealers.
CONCLUSION: A. The FBI/DOJ needs to be reformed. The TEI program needs to be reformed or abolished. B. Since there’s no statute of limitations on murder, if anyone has credible evidence that anyone in the FBI/DOJ committed a murder or conspired to do so, please present that evidence to the appropriate authorities.

    • Matt et al.,
John F Kennedy’s death has received an inordinate amount of space on this blog.
      Why?
Boston was bombed in April purportedly by two brothers, one of whom was pointed out to us by Russian officials.
The FBI agent in charge of the investigation is gone.
      Ed Davis is gone.
      Todashev has been killed.
Can we focus on the points of connections between the FBI and Whitey Bulger
and the FBI and what is happening in Boston now?

In the words of our US Attorney: “The myth, the legend, the saga of James Bulger is now finally over…Mr. Bulger . . . was a terrorist and is a terrorist he terrorized individuals that crossed his path, a path that was driven by his desire for power for greed and for ambition.”

Heavens to Murgatroyd, People, we need to focus!

  10. Whore: Glad I created mores questions than answered
Now if there was only some way I could have logically introduced this quote from Rilke….
“Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.”

I started a post about 7 years ago that I will try and find listing all the people working in Media in bed with the FBI.Of course that always translates upward to the word “corporate controlled media”.
People posting here might want to keep their eyes open for a new book
coming out in January about the FBI control of the media written by Professor Mathew Cecil at Wichita State University. As Matt Connolly’s blog on Whitey Bulger increasingly becomes a cyber wailing wall for gotcha journalism about all things whitey I find it instructive to remind myself the importance of moving beyond the pathology of the Bulger
Crime Scene and create viable solutions to the problems Whitey has raised about our society. When attorney Andrew Vachss saw American citizens traveling to Thailand to have sex with 6 year old children he did not create a blog. He did create the Boycott Thailand Movement. As Vachss say’s ” blogging is not behaviour, behaviour is truth” If Matt’s blog is to leave a legacy to Boston when the Whitey Bulger Dust Storm clears then I would expect to see something in place in the Boston Criminal Justice system that say’s No Mas.Otherwise what we got going here is one big circle jerk, eh?

    • ms:

Another good and informative post with must meat. My son is a big Rilke fan and get dips and dabs of him from time to time from him. Thanks for the quote. You’ve done much good work over your time bringing to light the problems facing America when we have a secret unaccountable police force. I agree that this blog will amount to nothing is some changes are made but it will hopefully plant a seed so that others will be aware of the situation. You know better than I because you have been at it a much longer time that the great majority of people do not want to be taken out of their comfort zones. Attorney Vachss deserves credit for his Boycott Thailand work. I agree we have to get beyond Whitey but I also think that we have to do an autopsy to see how this mid-level gangster became such a big hit in the Hub. Keep them coming. Thanks.

Can you post a link for the 1967 Article that has the photos of the 41 murder victims of the Irish Gang Wars? Another excellent post by the way.

    • Jerome:

Sorry but I can’t seem to do it. I bought the magazine in order to get the pictures. I’ll see if I can post them. Thanks for the nice words.

      • Thanks Matt- Can you share the source where you got the magazine? Amazon? I would be interested in getting a copy myself. Have you read WHITEY : The Life of America’s Most Notorious Mob Boss? It is supposed to add more insight into the psychology of Whitey Bulger regarding his murderous and evil acts. Also, whats your opinion regarding the affects of LSD in relation to his subsequent behavior. Personally, because so many gangsters murdered without ever having taken LSD I am inclined to believe its just a convenient excuse and explanation without much merit. Also, IF Whitey got immunity from Jeremiah O Sullivan why would he go on the lam for 16 years?

To what extent do you think the corruption goes beyond Connolly, Morris, Schneiderdam (I think I misspelled his last name)? I mean how many more cops, troopers, FBI agents are there possibly?

        • Jerome:

Doubting suggested this site: http://www.michaelstowe.net It contains the Life pictures.

I read Whitey – it’s difficult psychoanalyzing people from afar – the authors do so because as I’ve suggested they needed filler for their books. They write about kids from broken homes etc., which would not apply to Whitey. They also have no idea what it was like to grow up in Old Harbor Village at the time Whitey lived there. Small fact, that housing project had the lowest rate of juvenile delinquency in the city even with Whitey being there. LSD is an excuse. If Whitey had immunity which he never did he wouldn’t have gone on the lam. Corruption in state police limited to Schneiderhan, in the FBI if Connolly is corrupt all the agents who knew Whitey was a top echelong informant and protected him including Morris; Boston cops, Billy Stewart was notoriously bad but I don’t have a good feel for Boston though a couple of detectives I grew up with were convicted of corruption. I have a gut feeling that cops are paid well now and if any had a tendency to becoe corrupt they realize they will loose the golden goose by doing so which minimizes the present corruption.

    • Jerome- michaelstowe.net you can see the photos of the victims from the gangwar

Whistleblowers tell Senate panel of alleged sexual misconduct by Secret Service agents

    November 14 2013

Secret Service agents and managers have engaged in sexual misconduct and other improprieties across a span of 17 countries in recent years, according to accounts given by whistleblowers to the Senate committee that oversees the department.

Sen. Ronald H. Johnson (Wis.), ranking Republican on a Homeland Security subcommittee, said Thursday that the accounts directly contradict repeated assertions by Secret Service leaders that the elite agency does not foster or tolerate sexually improper behavior.

Echoes of Cartagena: Ruckus at hotel leads to internal review of president’s protective detail.

The allegations come in the wake of a prostitution scandal last year in Cartagena, Colombia, that roiled the Secret Service and prompted numerous reviews of its male-dominated culture. In a subsequent episode, The Washington Post reported this week, two supervisors were cut from President Obama’s security detail after allegedly sending sexually explicit e-mails to a female agent.

Johnson said that one of those disciplined supervisors, Ignacio Zamora Jr., had helped lead the internal investigation into the April 2012 incident in Cartagena, where more than a dozen agents engaged in a night of heavy drinking and carousing with prostitutes ahead of a presidential visit.

One person involved in security in Cartagena said Zamora was chosen for the review because he served as the “second supervisor” on the trip, and was among the managers responsible for the security effort in advance of Obama’s arrival for an international summit. The agency discovered Zamora’s e-mails to a female subordinate after he accidentally left a bullet behind in a woman’s room at the upscale Hay-Adams hotel in Northwest Washington.

Johnson said in a statement that letting Zamora investigate Cartagena amounted to “the fox guarding the hen house.”

Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan hung up on a reporter seeking comment Thursday on Zamora’s role and other allegations. An attorney representing Zamora declined to comment.

White House officials also declined to comment.

After the Cartagena scandal, the agency adopted new policies banning the consumption of alcohol 10 hours before employees report to work and limiting consumption to “moderate amounts” during off-duty hours. Agents and officers cannot drink alcohol when stationed at the hotel of the public official they are assigned to protect.

    • Dear msfreeh:

Please clarify the nexus between allegations of sexual misconduct in the U.S. Secret Service and this posting about the use and misuse of the legal term, “terrorist.” Do you intent to suggest that the U.S. Secret Service agents implicated by these allegations are terrorists? Just curious. Thanks!

      Sincerely,
      Howie Whore

      • Howie Carr wrote a book “The Brothers Bulger: How they Terrorized Boston . . . blah, blah, blah” and cited not one fact how William Bulger, the Senate President and U.Mass President, “terrorized” anyone. At worst, the “corrupt fatso” Howie Carr, pointed out some entirely legal legislative actions Bill Bulger sponsored or took which Howie and his character assassinating pals didn’t agree with. Again, Bill Bulger never committed a crime, not even a misdemeanor; he simply exercised lawful authority and the “corrupt fatso” Carr labels him a “terrorist.” I feel sorry for the people who believe Carr, Cullen, Lehr, O’Neil and the other reputation murdering, pathetic characters who pass themselves off as objective reporters but who have axes to grind, money to make selling trash, and major problems with conveying simple truths. 2. Jesus said not to throw the first stone, but what do you do about characters like Carr, Cullen, Lehr etc. who ceaselessly throw stones at others? I think there comes a time when honest people should throw some stones back at the character assassins and the twisters of truth. And don’t spare Ortiz and the whole Department of Justice from criticism. I repeat the FBI/DOJ/Press got in bed with the gangsters, protected them and condoned the release of serial killers into out neighborhoods.

        • Dear William,

You raise an interesting point. Maybe U.S. Attorney Ortiz borrowed that choice of words not from the legal understanding of “terrorist” as we have clarified it here, but instead perhaps it was after reading that book. Who knows, maybe it was a reference book utilized behind the scenes. It is nonfiction, after all. That is a great connection you have made here!

          Kudos,
          Howie Whore

          • Howie John – Ortiz used the word after one of the people referred to him as a terrorist in their victim impact statement in court, she referenced this as the reason she also used this word.

            • Jan:

That’s precisely the problem; witnesses speak loosely – the head of the US Attorney’s office in Boston is not supposed to do that. Too often Ortiz says whatever comes into her head and the results are pretty unfortunate.

      • Whore: Thanks for taking an interest in my post. I guess you missed the inflection in my tone of voice in the response to Matt. As Robin Williams says to his MIT buddy Jerry in Good Will Hunting ” I was trying to be ironic”……I don’t know if your questions to me are a set up or genuine but I will give it a shot. When you control the media you control what the media says about Whitey Bulger and the FBI. That is why I taught myself video production and went out and bought my own equipment. Of course it helped to be trained by Danny Schecter over at WBCNfm in 1972 where we went on to create a 1 hour long weekly radio show criminal justice news magazine called LOCK UP that ran for 5 years at the top of the Prudential building. Do I consider the Military Industrial control of the media a terrorist event? Yes. Do I consider the US Secret Service a terrorist organization? That get’s a little dicey. I subscribe to the theory of my Quincy buddy Ed Tatro who scripted and appears in the banned History Channel documentary about the President Kennedy assassination called The Guilty Men see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgNfQYpS1gQ

Ed is the second person to appear on camera in the beginning of the film. He says ” you cannot kill the President of the United States unless the Vice President, FBI and Secret Service are involved.”
Does that make the Secret Service a terrorist organization? Well
think about the German Secret Service police who protected Adolph Hitler. I believe our own Government created the 1993 1st Word Trade Center bombing, the Oklahoma City bombing, 911 and other terrorist events . Our sitting US Presidents were part of this Government.
You can watch a documentary I helped shoot in 2002 detailing the evidence for our Government creating 911. see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMT2CHSvyGw

I hope this creates more questions for you than I have answered.
The fuel that drives my engine of consciousness today is looking at the possible psychological evolution of the human species. Here is a post I started by that same title. http://www.ldsfreedomforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=27619&sid=312b5a1dfba95f0cdee42fcc7ef7e820

        • Hi msfreeh, I take it that you are still in the Boston area. Do you have any upcoming meetings in the Boston area? Incidentally, I do recall doing a double take when visiting the book depository in Dallas when I happened to notice the plaque on the building indicating that Lady Bird Johnson’s family had owned the building, or something to that effect, if my memory serves me correctly.

        • Msfreeh, are you LDS?

        • Dear msfreeh,

Thank you for taking the time to furnish a reply.

I assure unreservedly you that my question was “genuine” and truly appreciate you offering a good faith reply. I was trying to understand the connection between your comment and the topic of this post. Now I understand your intent more clearly and see that you are, indeed, continuing with the theme of what you believe a terrorist to be. Sometimes your comments, while no doubt interesting, appear to be off topic from the post which precedes your comments.

Your clarification of comments like this one here helps in this discourse by connecting your voice to the topic at hand, rather than it appearing to lead off into some other place far afield from the topic at hand. More questions do come, but I shall reserve those for another occasion. I do wonder whether it may be more true that the Government controls the media under your theory, or if the media controls the Government? For example, do you believe it may be possible that U.S. Attorney Ortiz chose to call James Bulger a “terrorist” because she read Carr’s magnum opus, BROTHERS BULGER: HOW THEY TERRORIZED AND CORRUPTED BOSTON FOR A QUARTER CENTURY?

Thank you again for this bona fide reply; I appreciate it, and I am certain that other readers here appreciate it as well.

          Sincerely,

  14. “Terrorist” is the buzzword for “really bad person”, undeserving of civil rights. However, being a prosecutor inconveniently does not give you the power to unilaterally deprive someone of his/her civil rights. Damn that pesky U.S. Constitution.

  15. Now that’s what I am talking about…looking forward to more analysis that debunks hyperbole .
