The FBI and I: A Long Trek Over The Past (2 of 7)

The answer the FBI came up with was to have a fall guy. It put it out and the media went along with it that Connolly was a rogue agent. Somehow he was not supposed to be involved with those two individuals even though it was his job at the FBI. it wasn’t that he was doing it in secret; to be a Top Level Informant a person had to be approved at the highest levels of the FBI down through the agent in charge, his deputy and the agent’s supervisor. In other words what Connolly was doing, namely: protecting his informants was known and approved by the FBI command structure. They wanted him to do it.

This was all obfuscated by the time John Connolly was brought to trial thanks to the media’s connection with the US Attorney’s office in Boston. One person who knew about the Top Echelon Program was was Ralph Ranalli who in 2001 wrote the book Deadly Alliance with the sub-title “The FBI’s Secret Partnership With The Mob.” Ranalli was a staff writer for the Boston Globe and Boston Herald. His acknowledgements showed he wrote the book with the help of many who were involved in the prosecution, writing about, or demonizing Connolly. As such, he too missed the “rogue agent” plan.

Among those Ranalli relied on for information was FBI assistant agent in charge Robert Fitzpatrick who pleaded guilty to 12 counts of an indictment charging him with
perjury and obstruction of justice in connection with his testimony at the 2013 trial of James “Whitey” Bulger.  Fitzpatrick wrote a book which he claimed things he would later say were not true and contained other things that I found ridiculous and wrote about.

On one occasion Fitzpatrick suggest to me that I had taken the title of my book from something he wrote. I laughed. I explained how I arrived at the title. I also learned later doing some research on the FBI that embarrassing the FBI was the thing J. Edgar Hoover would not abide. I found a book written in 1972 by an agent that had the title “Don’t Embarrass the Bureau.” That was the first commandment. The first thing taught to all agents that they can do whatever they want as long as they don’t embarrass the job. During the days when the agents did black bag jobs to plant bugs they were told it was fine to do them but if they got caught (and couldn’t fix it quietly) the FBI would call them rogue agents.

Why did Connolly limit his defense and not disclose what his job on the FBI was supposed to be? That has always been a mystery to me. I sometimes speculate that  Connolly never understood the FBI was betraying him even though it was assisting the prosecutor. He often attacked the Department of Justice as the culprit. That being the case he did not want to embarrass the job by saying “yes, I did what I did because I was supposed to do it.”

I’m also convinced he believed he would be acquitted. He told me during the trial something to the effect, “I did nothing wrong and I know of no one in the FBI who did anything wrong.” Unaware  the first commandment of the FBI I did not have the knowledge to tell him that whether he did something wrong or not did not matter. The FBI was embarrassed the public knew he was the handler of Flemmi and Bulger. It needed to wash its hands to suggest it was blameless in his actions. It made Connolly into a rogue agent with the help of his supervisor who was John Morris who would testify against Connolly.

    • MS Freeh: Good job. I was wondering when the Tsarnaev brothers would be back in the news. Remember the Waltham murders. The issue of Tamerlan’s possible CI status hasn’t been fully explored. Did he get a “by” for a triple slaying?

  2. Yes, this is true. John Connolly, like all FBI agents, handled TEIs in accordance with FBI established policies and practices. The FBI itself sold him down the drain and falsely characterized him as “rogue” . . .this tactic was obviously OK’d in DC by the heads of the FBI . . .2. The Prosecutors were completely corrupt, too. . .they too knew Connolly was not rogue . . .worse, all knew Morris, Connolly’s supervisor, was corrupt and they used the corrupt cop Morris against the innocent cop, Connolly.

2B the Prosecutors’ office corruptly leaked info to the Boston Globe and others in MSM, and the corrupt deal which corrupted the Press was this: We, the FEDS, will FEED you, the Globe Info, i.e. via leaks, and you the Boston Globe will protect us and not question our party line that Connolly was a rogue agent. Why was the Globe in bed on this? First it was corrupted by the corrupt leaks, and most importantly it understood the FEDs (Sterns, Wyshak, Durham and their cohorts) had a plan to use Connolly to get the Honorable William Bulger, U.Mass President and former Senate President. The Honorable Pro-Life Traditional Values Conservative Bill Bulger was the arch enemy and nemisis of the leftist Boston Globe. It was the Boston Globe that FED the FEDS the fabricated crime “highering someone who is less qualified” and the FEDs under Wyshak et al ATE IT UP and singled out one Probation Department in New England . . .O’Brien’s, where Chris Bulger, Bill’s son, worked (what a coincidence). . .and prosecuted that office for years . . .a phony non-existent crime that Judge Young to his everlasting discredit allowed to be prosecuted in his courtroom but the Federal Appeals Court threw it all out . . .In that phony “Probation Officers Case” innocent people like House Speaker DeLeo were named as CO-INDICTED CONSPIRATORS and required to spend tens or hundreds of thousands on wasted legal counsel . . .the Globe was delighted, Bill Bulger’s family and friends were under siege and being PERSECUTED by the POLITICIZED FEDS . . .

    3. And you wonder why Wyshak’s Office singled out a 50 year old Nurse, a wife, with a clean record, to prosecute and seek 8 years in prison for depositing her bookie husbands’ earnings . . .Wyshak called it “money laundering” . . .wonder why? a good answer is that the nurse was John Connolly’s sister in law. On yeah, . . .well why did Wyshak ask a sentence of only “probation” for the Congressman’s wife who laundered millions of her brother’s offshore gambling cash? because Wyshak said in open court: “She’s the Congressman’s wife.” Equal justice conceptualized in the corrupt mind of the politically persecutorial prosecutor Wyshak: Connolly’s sister in law, first offense, one tenth as much money allegedly laundered as the Congressman’s wife, Wyshak recommends 8 years in prison . . .the Judge sentenced the Nurse to a year . . .Guess what the judge sentence the Congressman’s wife to . .30 days.

AND SO IT GOES, A CORRUPT FEDERAL PROSECUTORS OFFICE, CORRUPT FBI BIG WIGS GREEN LIGHTING THE SELLING OUT OF AN AGENT AS ‘ROGUE”; CORRUPT JUDGES GOING ALONG WITH THE WHOLE CHARADE; AND THE CORRUPT BOSTON GLOBE CHEER-LEADING THE POLITICAL PERSECUTION AGAINST INNOCENT FOLKS, TRADITIONALLY CONSERVATIVE-MODERATE FRIENDS OF THE FORMER U-MASS PRESIDENT, SENATE PRESIDENT BILL BULGER WHO RETIRED AFTER 50 YEARS OF SERVICE WITHOUT A BLEMISH OR MISDEMEANOR ON HIS RECORD AND WITH HONORARIUMS FROM AT LEAST 40 OF THE MOST PRESTIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS IN BOSTON AND MASSACHUSETTS.

    Read my books . . .
