There’s A Sick Man in the Oval Office: Did We Elect Whitey Bulger as President?

I could only think that Whitey Bulger was in the White House when I read the latest tweet from the president.

Maybe you don’t know who Whitey Bulger is so perhaps I should explain. He was a local hoodlum in the Boston area. He grew up in a small section of the city known as South Boston, or Southie to those like me who also grew up there. From his earliest days he lived large – one of those folk who as a teenager runs off and joins the circus for a bit. Later he would be involved locally in tailgating where young guys would jump on the back of trucks and grab some contents and then skedaddle.

He moved up the criminal ladder going  from that to bank robbery and got a big bit in the federal pen after the FBI  caught up with him. He came back, joined a bookie as a strong armed man, got involved in some shootings with the bookies rivals, and when the smoke cleared his bookie was out of business so he went to join some other criminals, from Roxbury and Somerville, for protection from the rivals. He would still operate out of Southie but had the backing of these other guys so he was able to murder his rivals and take over the crime business in Southie.

One of these other criminals was a gun guy who returned from  being on the lam. He was hiding out in Montreal. This guy had been an FBI informant but when he was involved in blowing up a lawyer’s car he was indicted so he had to scram until the FBI could work it out that the charges be dismissed.

He told Whitey what a good deal he had working with the FBI because it protected him from other law enforcement and he could continue his nefarious ways without fear of being apprehended. Whitey knew a good thing when he saw it so he too joined the FBI as an informant in its Top Echelon Informant program. The deal was the FBI would let him operate however he wanted as long as he helped it get other criminals.

Whitey murdered probably a half-dozen give or take a couple while an FBI informant. The other gun guy murdered about twenty. He by the way is now part of a travelling circus going around testifying about other people who murdered nowhere near as many as he did. Eventually, for reasons too complicated to get involved in now, Whitey was indicted by the Feds, he fled for 16 years, was captured, and brought to trial.

Here’s where he and Trump become indistinguishable. Perhaps that may be because the lawyers they hired studied the same type law that is alien to most lawyers.

The latest tweet from the president read: “As has been stated by numerous legal scholars, I have the absolute right to PARDON myself, but why would I do that when I have done nothing wrong? In the meantime, the never ending Witch Hunt, led by 13 very Angry and Conflicted Democrats (& others) continues into the mid-terms!”

Whitey’s defense at his trial was that an Assistant US Attorney Jeremiah O’Sullivan told him that he would not be prosecuted for any crimes he committed as long as he — well it is not clear what the quid was — but it was clear Whitey thought he was above the law. He could rob, murder or rape and would not be charged with anything like that.

That makes Whitey and Donald twins. A person who can pardon himself is like Whitey asserted he was, above the law.

Is Trump right? Is he above the law? Stay tuned to see tomorrow.

Oh, you wonder how Whitey made out. He’s sitting in a federal prison where he will die. No one bought his claim he was above the law.

  1. Lets see–Trump wants to get Russia back in the G-7; he wants to screw Canada and do a “deal” with the King of Earth-Kim. I guess he figures that the Russians and Koreans will be men of their words and never renege on a contract. But those Canadians, lets get them.

    • Isn’t it, uh, odd that we import and export large quantities of both steel and aluminum?

Its like in No Country For Old Men when Woody Harrelson’s character says to the mob guy, “Your building has only 12 floors in the elevator but from the outside there are 13.”

  2. This is an improvement. Last year Trump was Hitler. Now he is only Whitey. Next year he’ll likely be a shoplifter. On mote important subjects what about the economy and North Korea?

  3. No one in the FBI, except John Morris, condoned, sanctioned, green-lighted or turned a back on murder or violence committed by TEIs. You may argue they should have been more vigilant or more vigorous in their investigations. None approved, condoned or turned a blind eye to murder/violence.

SERIAL PERJURERS/KILLERS LIKE FLEMMI AND MARTORANO HAVE AFFIRMED THEY WERE TOLD AT LEAST ANNUALLY “NO MURDER/NO VIOLENCE”).

THEN UNDER CAREFUL URGENT URGING/COACHING BY WYSHAK, FLEMMI TESTIFIED IN FLORIDA THAT AFTER HE KILLED FOUR MEN THE FBI MUST HAVE KNOWN HE WAS THE KILLER AND THEREFORE WERE IMPLICITLY, SILENTLY SANCTIONING THOSE KILLINGS EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE TELLING HIM ANNUALLY HE COULDN’T KILL.

TYPICAL LYING MALARKEY FROM FLEMMI AS COACHED, ENCOURAGED BY WYSHAK WHILE FLEMMI WAS UNDER WYSHAK’S TUTELAGE . . . .AND REMEMBER, NOT UNTIL WYSHAK GOT A HOLD OF FLEMMI FOR THE MIAMI TRIAL DID FLEMMI ALTER HIS 8 YEARS OF TESTIMONY THAT JOHN CONNOLLY WAS AN HONEST AGENT WHO NEVER INTENDED ANYONE BE HARMED.

CAN A REASONABLE MIND DRAW ANY CONCLUSIONS ADVERSE TO FLEMMI’S AND FEDERAL PROSECUTORS’ VERACITY FROM THESE FACTS?

  4. Matt, you are a bit disingenuous in your ingenious arguments. Whitey like all Top Echelon Informants were told they could continue their criminal activities but “NO VIOLENCE, NO MURDERS.” In fact, all TEIs were told this and I recall reading about one or two who crossed the line and were discontinued as TEIs and arrested/prosecuted.

Whitey’s argument was his TEI deal absolved him of prosecution for all non-violent crimes.

Even the wholly corrupt FBI agent John Morris (an admitted attempted murderer himself and an admitted recipient of Mob money) affirmed that all TEIs were told at least annually, “No murders, no violence.” That is they could continue bookmaking, selling drugs, loan sharking up to a point, etc. They needed to continue to be criminals, to be useful as TEIs.

    • “That is they could continue bookmaking, selling drugs, loan sharking up to a point, etc.”

I’ve known many bookies, drug dealers and loan sharks. Extremely nice folks. Not violent in the least.

      What an embarrassment.

  5. Any President likely can pardon himself for actions before he became President. The election itself is an indication that the electorate has pardoned him. It is a curiosity of law of no significance, brought up solely to rustle the frayed, unlaundered bloomers of over-the-hill pussymarchers.

Since you are determined to slander Donald Trump by any association imaginable, mention that his wedding to Melania was attended by the corrupt Hillary and Bill Clinton. That is one stinkeroo of an association unlike the malignantly imaginary one posited to Whitey Bulger.

    • Pretty true, Tadzio.

I feel bad for The First Lady. Her recent nervous breakdown shows just how much pressure someone in that position can be feeling. She seems like a nice lady and I wish her well.

  6. If Trump is like Whitey Bulger, then Obama is like Ferdinand Marcos.
