Trump’s Collusion With Russian Proven: A Witch Hunt It Ain’t

At his news conference with Putin we saw Trump standing at a podium next to Putin. We heard Putin say: “I had to reiterate things I said several times, including during our personal contacts, that the Russian state has never interfered and is not going to interfere into internal American affairs, including the election process.”

As I mentioned yesterday Trump said in response to whether he believed Putin when he said, as set out above, he did not interfere in the election: “I have President Putin. He just said no it’s not Russia.” He went on to say: “President Putin was extremely strong and powerful in his denial today.”

Last November Trump had this to say after meeting with Putin: “He said he didn’t meddle. He said he didn’t meddle. I asked him again. You can only ask so many times. Every time he sees me, he says, ‘I didn’t do that.’ And I believe, I really believe, that when he tells me that, he means it. I think he is very insulted by it.”

Yesterday Trump said: “let me be totally clear in saying — and I’ve said this many times — I accept our intelligence community’s conclusion that Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election took place. Could be other people also. A lot of people out there.”

In a CBS television interview yesterday Trump was asked: “You say you agree with U.S. intelligence that Russia meddled in the election in 2016.”  Trump responded: “Yeah and I’ve said that before, Jeff. I have said that numerous times before, and I would say that is true, yeah.”

I suggest once and for all we can put aside the question whether Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election. We all agree that it did. That obviously makes Putin in to a big liar, don’t you think. From above we see that over and over again Putin lies directly to Trump about the matter. Trump accepts his lies at one point but now apparently agrees he has been lied to.

Putin would also say during that press conference: “We  should be guided by facts. Could you name a single fact that would definitely prove the collusion? This is utter nonsense, just like the president recently mentioned.”

Putin was referring to the remarks just made by Trump: “I think that the – the probe  is a disaster for our country. I think it’s kept us apart. It’s kept us separated. There was no collusion at all. Everybody knows it. And people are being brought out to the fore (ph). So far that I know, virtually none of it related to the campaign. . . . It’s ridiculous. It’s ridiculous what’s going on with the probe.” Trump would conclude his remarks stating, as he has said many times lately, that the Mueller probe is a “total witch hunt.”

Mueller has been charged to investigate Russian involvement in the 2016 presidential election. Now that Trump has admitted, finally, that he believes Russia did interfere, how can he then call Mueller’s investigation a witch hunt?

Trump by continually pushing this line is colluding with Putin to hide that the Mueller investigation is based on actual happenings. Up until the last couple of days he has denied Russia’s involvement so that he can maintain the fiction that there is nothing there for Mueller to investigate.

What makes his denials particularly egregious is that he well knew before he was sworn in as president that Russia had interfered with the election. According to an article in the New York Times: “Two weeks before his inauguration, Donald J. Trump was shown highly classified intelligence indicating that President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia had personally ordered complex cyberattacks to sway the 2016 American election. The evidence included texts and emails from Russian military officers and information gleaned from a top-secret source close to Mr. Putin, who had described to the C.I.A. how the Kremlin decided to execute its campaign of hacking and disinformation. Mr. Trump sounded grudgingly convinced, according to several people who attended the intelligence briefing. But ever since, Mr. Trump has tried to cloud the very clear findings that he received on Jan. 6, 2017, which his own intelligence leaders have unanimously endorsed.”

Putin asked for a single fact to show collusion. I’ve just set forth a plethora of them which shows Trump purposefully conspired with Putin to pretend he did not interfered in our election. Rather than confronting the enemy that attacked us, Trump covered-up its actions and gave it aid and comfort.

Why would he want to work for Russian against the United States? That is the question that must be answered.

  4. Abe, If you repeat that sentence as if you were an overacting Bill Shatner as Captain Kirk to a puzzled Spock remember to assemble those commas like Union pickets in Scarlett O’Hara’s box hedges in order to get the full report : SPOCK, ENGLISH,LINGUISTICS,IS,COOL

    1. Bob & Ray have a character named Harlow P. Whitcomb who is the president of the STOA. The Slow Talkers Of América. Lots of commas.

  5. Abe

That sentence is oddly constructed, having, equally, weighted subject, and, object, clauses. The seeming profusion of commas is vital to marking the boundaries of discrete thoughts. English linguistics is cool. All serious queries will be answered.

  9. HB and Tadzio are right. The election was in 2016. Obama was the boss. If anyone dropped the ball it was Obama and Brennan. Russia’s massive effort changed no votes. No one can state one fact where the Trump campaign in 2016 combined with Russia. Over two years into this bogus inquiry and nothing is uncovered. NOT GUILTY. It is the Duke Lacrosse case and the Probation case all over again. Corrupt prosecutors run amuck. 2. Happy days are here again. Peace and Prosperity are near. How do we solve the N. Korea problem without Russian co operation? Trump has kept his word . Tax cuts, deregulation, energy independence, better trade deals and Conservatives on the Courts. Scalia was the gold standard for judges. He attended a Jesuit high school. Gorsuch and Kavanaugh attended a Jesuit high school. Trump has the highest standards.

    1. So much has been uncovered its astonishing actually. You just keep your head in the sand. Serious question, if Mueller releases an email from Putin to Trump telling him instructions on how to run the campaign, would that be good enough for you to show collusion, or would you need more?

      1. Astonish me, please.

What evidence? You offer none. Nor has Mueller.

All that is known for sure is that the Hilliary campaign purchased the Steele dossier from a foreigner. Collusion by Clinton with a UK intel operative cannot be translated into collusion by Trump with the Russian government. That you think that it can be is astonishing.

  10. Russian “interference” with the election in no way requires collusion. Russia did nothing that many nations, most notably Israel, China and the UK, do not do as a matter of course. The United States does it across the globe full time. When our President, [Yes, whether you like it or not Trump is Your President], he clearly means that Russia did not “interfer” in a way that is not commonplace, trite, or meaningless.

Nor is there anything wrong with such actions. In a free country, all parties, including foreign nations, pursue their interests. You could not have Liberty without such behavior. This whole brouhaha is a malicious contrivance by crybabies who lost an election because they had a lousy, stupid candidate who ran a lousy, stupid campaign. Another one of their obstacles is that too many of their supporters are lousy, stupid people.

Never once I have heard a rationale for why Russia, and only Christian Russia, is to be condemned for what every other nation does. Hatred is not a sound policy. Immaturity is not a sound policy. Weeping, blubbering, pouting and tantrums are not sound policies.

Pussymarchers, change your diapers. You are stinking up the planet. No one wants your wars. not that you would be willing to fight in them yourselves.

    1. Russia also bombs civilians in Syria, took over Crimea, and in 2008 invaded the country of Georgia. Does that make it OK for them to bomb the US too? What a terrible argument, “other countries do it all the time and so do we.” Total trash.

      1. Changing the subject, “election meddling” to unrelated foreign policy in distant lands, is a definition of “Total trash”. Apples are not oranges. Talking about something else does not refute an argument.

      2. dave, check your history: It was the CIA that instigated rebellion in Syria and US supported Free Syrian Army and US has bombed civilians throughout Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, and via NATO Libya, whose rebellion/war our CIA instigated and US gives Saudi the cluster bombs and missiles to bomb civilians in Yemen and elsewhere the US supports autocrats and dictators and starts wars . . .this has been true since Spanish-American War seizures, Vietnam, etc . . .
        2. As for Crimea, Russia gave Crimea to the Ukraine when Ukraine was a subservient state under the USSR . . .Russia needs those ports . . .and also don’t talk about UN Treaties stabilizing boundaries . . .US/NATO stole Kosovo from Serbia . . .and don’t give us phony stories which exclude the KLA
        3. As for Georgia, see Serbia and the KLA . . .there were instigators . . most likely CIA-NATO instigators . . .inside Georgia who dared provoke the brief decisive incursion of the Russian Army . . .

Don’t poke the Big Russian Bear’s Nose

        Make peace with Russia

Don’t paint, as Tadzio says, Christian Russia with its 130 million well educated, well fed people as “enemies” or “demons” especially when our own country, the good old USA, has done so much wrong in the past (but much more good) and still has much housecleaning to do.

Consider the other side Consider Russia’s point of view . . .

        1. “Make peace with Russia”

You must admit, it would be nicer if Putin wasn’t Stephen Flemmi’s understudy.

          1. Honest:

Yeah, that does present a little problem to peace putting aside the all the other things Russia has done over the years. Might as well try to make peace with a lion in the wild. It may last for a bit but if the lion gets hungry some day, well you know where it will turn.

        2. Bill:

You really have to decide what side you are on. It has been Russia that has been attacking the US and other Western countries. You have decided that all the faults in the world are those of America even going to the point of justifying Russia’s invasions of other countries and keeping the territory. The invasion and seizure of Georgia was caused by the CIA? Come on, you sound like one of the Walter Durante camp that blamed the Soviet induced famine in Ukraine on the Ukrainian because they instigated it by not wanting to join the kolkhozy. Crimea invasion is OK because “Russia needs those ports.” It also needs the ports in the Baltic states so I guess we should give it a pass on that.

You do know Russia is not a democracy and Putin murders his opponents or jails them, don’t you. You do know there is no free press in Russia. I suppose that is because the US instigated some people to speak freely or to run for office there. I suppose it is the United States that is responsible that in Christian Russia “As of 2010, the abortion rate was 37.4 abortions per 1000 women aged 15–44 years, the highest of any country reported in UN data.” Those “well educated, well fed” Russians live in a country that is 48th in the world in per capita income as considered against GDP. It has a lower GDP than South Korea. I know, that’s the fault of the CIA.

As for Russian Christians, you wouldn’t want to be a Jehova Witness. “Jehovah’s Witnesses, a Christian denomination that the Russian Supreme Court declared an “extremist” organization and effectively outlawed in April last year.” These Christians are fleeing the country. Since the court ruling “which put Bible-reading Christians who reject all violence in the same category of extremism as supporters of the Islamic State, set off a harsh crackdown across Russia. The Jehovah’s Witness headquarters near St Petersburg were seized by the state, prayer halls around the country were raided by the police and scores of believers were arrested. What we have seen in Russia since the Jehovah’s Witness organization was banned outright last year is without doubt the most severe crackdown on religious freedom since the Soviet era,” said Geraldine Fagan, the author of “Believing in Russia — Religious Policy after Communism.”

Yes, I know that’s all right because the Jehovah Witnesses’ are an American founded religious group. Think the CIA had a hand in funding them? Probably. What about what this Russian woman who is trying to leave Russia said: “All I want is to find a place on earth where everyone knows the law and abides by it, and where there isn’t corruption. I’m so sick of it. And I’m tired of arguing about Ukraine. What’s happening there is insane, and it’s terrifying that it could lead to a full-scale war. All I want is a small patch of land where there’s peace and quiet.”

How is it that of the 130 million well educated and well fed Russians every third young Russian wants to leave for good? Perhaps if you blamed America less and looked at Russia realistically you would know it is impossible to make peace with a nation that has no desire for peace. All the bull about Russia being under threat as justifying its attitude is shown to be nothing but lies by no one having invaded or even threatened that nation since 1940. By the way you say the US has done much good, can you tell me what good Russia has done?

        3. The argument that Russia does it too somehow now makes it OK for Trump to be a foreign agent. What’s it like in outer space?

  11. The larger question is that since all the alleged ‘collusion’ occurred in 2016 under the Obama administration, and was known to the FBI, CIA – why was nothing done to stop it then?

    1. Obama went to Mitch McConnell and asked if he would join him in a bipartisan statement to tell the American people of the cyberattack. McConnell refused and claimed any unilateral statement by Obama would be claimed by the GOP as political. There is your answer.
