Friends, Americans, countrymen, lend me your eyes, I come here to bury Trump, not to praise him.
I start by asking one simple question. Do you believe him when he wrote at 8:50 am on July 24, 2018 on his twitter account @realdonaldtrump :
“I’m very concerned that Russia will be fighting very hard to have an impact on the upcoming Election. Based on the fact that no President has been tougher on Russia than me, they will be pushing very hard for the Democrats. They definitely don’t want Trump!”
If you answer yes, are you one who will follow what he wants which he set out in his statement to the VFW the very same day that you “Just remember, what you are seeing and what you are reading is not what’s happening. Just stick with us, don’t believe the crap you see from these people, the fake news.”
You would almost think Trump took that line from George Orwell but since he doesn’t read probably not. In truth, it is likely Trump would know as much about Orwell as he did about Frederick Douglas.
Orwell talked about the Communist-type Party Leadership. He said: “The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.”
As for believing Russia is going to help the Democrats one has to hearken back quite a while to the Trump/Putin press conference in Helsinki. I think it was about a week ago although it seems like ages.
A reporter asked Putin: “Did you want President Trump to win the election and did you direct any of your officials to help him do that?”
Putin answered: “Yes, I did. Yes, I did. Because he talked about bringing the U.S. Russia relationship back to normal.”
This by the way this on video it is easy to find. But it isn’t in the official White House transcript? Doesn’t that fit nicely into not believing something you just saw but to wait until you are told what you saw. It is part of the criminal defense lawyers last trick in his bag of tricks when he tells the jurors: “Don’t believe your lying eyes!”
I suggest Trump felt he could always alter the facts whatever way he wanted. You recall how on Monday, Trump said “I don’t see any reason why it would be” when he was asked if he believed Russia interfered with the 2016 presidential. election. On Tuesday, he clarified that he had meant to say: “I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t be Russia.” One small word, one huge difference in that it turns night into day.
Trump recognized that only a few believed his Tuesday statement. He was widely ridiculed. To avoid that in the future he is telling his people: “believe nothing unless we tell whether it is all right to believe it.” That avoids Trump having to clarify a prior statement with a lie and the subsequent ridicule.. Rather than having the would/wouldn’t discussion Trump would just have eliminated it from the transcript.
In this presently free society we have the right to believe what we want to believe about religion, sexuality, and events. No matter how outlandish or ridiculous others may believe our belief to be. Just think there are some who believe America set up the 9/11 attacks and there are others who think Trump doesn’t lie.
It is clear that those who believe that Russia will help the Democrats in the mid-term election also believe Trump when he says he is the toughest president ever on Russia. That in spite of Russia FM saying Putin’s Helsinki meeting with Trump was beyond superb. In spite of Trump inviting Putin to the White House in the fall.
Word is out that Putin has yet to accept the invitation. While Putin wrestles with it, Trump, in the interest of has full transparency, changed a long-term WH procedures. No longer will it reveal anything about Trump’s conversations with foreign leaders. I guess this is so we won’t know how many times he is calling Putin trying to have him accept the invitation.
“Vladie, I’m on the hook. You gotta come.”
“Maybe, Donnie, but what else will you give me if I do. Poland? Tell me Donnie, make it worth while.”
“How about Grand Marshall for the military parade?”
“You already offered that, I already have a parade. You got to do better than that. And, Donnie, stop calling so much. I’ve got other things to do.”
Then there’s that other side of the coin from the yes side. There are those who don’t believe Russia want the Democrats to win. Some of them are Trump supporters.
So my question them is: “Why do you support him?”
Since the world is in such great, why doesn’t Trump gut the military and help those getting clobbered by his policies? North Korea loves us; Russia adores him and Iran is a push-over. I guess we have to keep our left hand high against to Canadians and the Macedonians.
Two reasons…blind partisanship or stupidity. I’m a liberal and never believed a word HRC said. That’s the difference between “leftists” and trump supporters. It’s funny to call people who support basic human dignity “leftists.” Maybe they should start a Humanist Party instead. We’ve got a trillion dollars for pointless wars but no money for healthcare, student debt, or free (for the students) trade school and undergrad degrees. Shave $20 billion off the bloated defense budget and you could make a lot of people’s lives a whole lot better, rather than spread chaos death and destruction to the far reaches of the globe.
NC listed some of Trump’s accomplishments. Matt does not understand that some people are politically conservative, against Orwellian Big Government ever expanding, for a smaller government, for a strong defense but against the Neo-Cons and Interventionists who bring us constant wars, for peace and fair trade deals with all countries, including Russia, and Pro-Life, Pro-Free Speech, Pro-Free Association, Pro-Private Enterprise and for less government regulation and red tape . . .
So, conservative traditionalist Pro-Life Independents like me far prefer Trump to what the Dem Party has to offer these days . . .Thank God HIllary was not elected, she who grossly negligently handled confidential info, she who deleted 33,000 emails before anyone could see them, she who gave us LIbya, Benghazi, Syria, etc, etc . . . .She of the ever meddling interventionism and private accrual of $150 million while being a “public servant.”
Good to see Trump’s daughter turning from commerce to public service . . .
Trump’s a good decision maker and is doing a good job as President . . .he did not lie . . .he mispoke
Read The American Spectator’s Columnists to get the other side of the story . . .
Read the Globe, NYT Wash Post et al and you think STROZK did a good credible job before Congress . . .he typifies what has to be purged from the FEDS . . . .an egomaniac who thinks his hatred of a subject doesn’t affect his objectivity and his love of HIllary did not affect his objectivity . . .that man, like many FEDS in DC and Boston lack self-insight . . .
That’s why I support Trump and oppose THEM (THE LEFTISTS AND BIG GOV LIBERALS). . .
Abe is right. The Hitler comparisons are unpersuasive. What is more important a politician who keeps his promises or one who doesn’t. Tax cuts. Deregulating. Energy independence. Better Trade deals and Conservatives on the Supreme Court. All promises kept. Plus a stronger NATO. More funding for the Alliance. $200 million for Ukraine. Lethal weapons for Ukraine. Unlike the prior Administration. $700 billion for Defense. The Crimean declaration. 2. How could anyone believe Putin? He said he din’t interfere in the election. Our Intel people said he did. And he said he wanted Trump to win. So we assume he didn’t. He lacks all credibility. So selective belief would be unwarranted
wa-llahi! The Trumpies won’t care, until, some decision of his screws them, personally. Don’t worry, that’s coming. In the end, Glorious Leader will screw everyone. Just like Hitler did.
You should not compare Trump to HItler. Nor to Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao. If you do have as deep a grasp of world history as you project you should know why. No one is like these people. In my opinion it is a huge disservice to the victims of those mad men to liken this president, who is working (bumbling) his way through his term in office, to the greatest monsters in man’s brief history on Earth. Its not the kind of reference to be made in such a glib manner.
I’m just sayin’, Khalid. Act like your name. Doesn’t Khalid mean great leader or all knowing? I knew another Khalid in Quito and he always bragged about his name being important. Maybe it was ever lasting or eternal.
I still like you, Khalid. Just thought I’d get that off my massive chest. (8 inches, 10 expanded)
Nope. Khalid is a family name, Khalid b. Waleed was the most famous of men named Khalid.
Trump is walking in the Fuhrer’s foot steps. Hitler gained power through an election. Many people thought he was just a clown. Glorious Leader has yet to do his worst, but, that is coming, and, unlike Hitler, Trump won’t have the guts to blow his brains out. Which is good, because, I’m looking forward to seeing him in a cage.
Khalid, you’ve been saying The End has been coming soon since February of 2017, at least.
Some people don’t understand that everyone who proposes that governments can act in a reasonable fashion to ameliorate imbalances, is not a red.
Discounting Trump’s accomplishments is futile to those who blind themselves to his weaknesses.
Wa-llahi! I’m impatient for the finale. Shield maidens, forward! Bring on the Wagner. Bill, I don’t have a clue why it’s taking so long. The intel people talk like they are making a move. Too bad, we can’t look behind the scenes. The drama is reaching its’ climax. Catharsis will be intense, and, will touch just about everybody. History is being written.
