It is said that “A lady asked Dr. Franklin Well Doctor what have we got a republic or a monarchy. A republic replied the Doctor if you can keep it.”
A republic is defined as: “a government in which supreme power resides in a body of citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by elected officers and representatives responsible to them and governing according to law.”
I now ask: “Well, America. We have a republic. How long do you think we can keep it when the checks and balances no longer exist.”
Happy Fourth of July

Just think on this date seven Republican US senators are in Moscow working hard to ingratiate themselves with the Russians who continue to attack our elections.
These members of the White Flag Republican Party will be remembered for their treachery. It

The Russians had no effect on the 2016 election. The results of that contest, Brexit and the Mexican election are all attributable to a widespread dissatisfaction with the status quo, the establishment in power and the incumbent political party. The voters wanted change, a different direction and something new. Peru had as much impact on those three elections as did Russia. 2. Any American mourning July 4 is greatly confused.
Retrospect is an exact science.
In February five Congress Critters went to Havana to be hosted by the Cuban Communist President Raul Castro. They may be soccer fans but there were not any World Cup games being played. They were there to undercut America’s foreign policy unlike the seven Senators who are in Moscow to facilitate America’s foreign policy with Russia and enjoy some world class sport competition.
There is a difference between cooperating with the legitimate conductor of foreign policy and attempting to subvert him.
The Cuba visitors were attacking the Constitutionally sanctioned foreign policy of the United States with hammers and tongs. Er, make that Hammers and Sickles. The pro-Communist solons were Senators Leahy [VT], Wyden [OR], Peters [MI] and Representatives McGovern [MA] and Davis [CA]. They are all Democrats, Red Flag Democrats.
From its inception, America was not “British”: African-American, French, Irish, German, Spanish, Italian, Native-Americans fought on the side of the Revolutionaries.
Slavery was outlawed in many northern states and indentured servitude, too, at America’s inception or shortly thereafter.
Throughout the world, there was an absence of child labor laws, women’s equality laws, and worker protection laws. America was in the forefront of advancing rights for all, primarily due to the genius of the Founding Father’s writing: The U.S. Constitution they bequethed to all future generations.
America’s story is “The Triumph of Multi-Ethnic America”, Multi-racial, multi-religious . . .and persons of all religions contributed to our Independence, especially the French Catholic armies and navies and Polish Catholics like Kosciusko and Polaski, etc, etc, etc, for persons living in America of Italian, Spanish, Portuguese descent, and persons of all religions, Anglicans, other Protestants, and Jews ( a soldier at Bunker Hill signed his American papers in Hebrew.)
America is the last, best hope of mankind in the near future . . .so long as we maintain our strong military, our integrity, honesty, our adherence to the originalists’ intent in the Constitution . . .it’s simple: Freedom of Speech, Press (writing by anyone not just media) and Religion . . .and honest elected officials enacting laws consistent with the Constitution . . .and get rid of the LOBBYISTS and CORRUPT POWER ABUSING FEDERAL OFFICIALS . . .TO PRESERVE LOBBYISTS CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT TO PETITION GOVERNMENT, ENACT A LAW LIMITING ALL CITIZENS TO ONE-PAGE LETTER PER ISSUE PER SESSION OF CONGRESS . . .EQUALITY OF LOBBYING FOR ALL AMERICANS . . . IF CONGRESSMAN WANTS MORE INFO HE MUST ASK FOR IT IN WRITING . . . MAKE AMERICA FAIR, AGAIN, AND DE-CENTRALIZE POWER IN DC
GO TO A PARADE OR CONCERT AND WAVE A FLAG ANDLISTEN AND RESPECT FOLKS WHO DO NOT THINK LIKE YOU DO
SHAME ON “LIBERAL” FOLKS ON MARTHA’S VINEYARD FOR SHUNNING ALAN DERSHOWITZ . . .NOTHING WAS MORE FUN AND ENLIGHTENING THAN A BILL BUCKLEY V ALAN DERSHOWITZ DEBATE . . .OFTENTIMES THEY LED TEAMS OF DEBATERS . . .WE LEARNED SO MUCH, ESPECIALLY FROM THE HEATED DEBATES, AND THEY ALL HAD COFFEES AND TEAS TOGETHER AFTERWARDS
RESTORE CIVILITY TO AMERICA
STOP THINKING WE HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS ;;; THE FOUNDING FATHERS HAD ANSWERS WHICH HAVE ENDURED FOR @250 YEARS
DO WE CELEBRATE THE 4TH OF JULY, or SHOULD WE MOURN? When lecturing on the American Revolution, I start by pointing out a fact we have lost sight of, or perhaps never truly understood. There was a sense of purity in the War for Independence. It wasn’t fought over oil, resources, wealth, women, insults, or even power. It wasn’t waged by the rich and fought by the poor.
The colonists weren’t being systematically brutalized by the British. Prior to the outbreak of the war, many of the Boston colonists were friendly with British soldiers policing their streets, including John Hancock, Joseph Warren, and Paul Revere. The colonists were British. They imagined the relationship between England and the American Colonies as that of the “Oak and the Ivy” growing together.
For at least ten years before that resounding first shot was fired, the colonists worked to bridge the gap that was threatening a separation from their Mother Country. There was a true sense of grief in declaring independence.
What was that gap that forced this declaration? The God-given rights of the individual. It was basic. It was plain. It was simple. And, for them, it was paramount — worth sacrificing all they had and were to assure these rights for generations to follow. Vital enough to die for in order to achieve.
Fathers fought with their sons. The rich fought with the poor. There was no absolution if they lost. Men like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Hancock, or John Adams would face certain death.
Not one of the men — or women who supported them — expected to defeat the British. How could they? Great Britain had the mightiest army and navy on the face of the Earth. This did not deter the Americans. I continue to stand in awe of their selflessness; of their courage; of their resolve.
How do U.S. Citizens today compare to those of 1776?
Yet, even the Founders, in birthing the infant nation had tunnel vision, focusing only on the rights of the adult White male citizen. Unspeakable atrocities would follow because of their neglect of the women, children, Native American, Black American, Asian American, and even those immigrants from “less desirable” European countries.
As the nation matured, it certainly experienced “growing pains.” Despite this, it continued to strive toward maturity.
Somewhere, somehow, the growth was stunted. (Perhaps after WWII, when the CIA (then OSA) lost all sense of morality in bringing Hitler’s evil scientists here to experiment on US citizens? And, let’s not forget the ‘Pentagon Papers’ etc.) A war weary populace were lulled by ‘peace and prosperity.’ We stagnated and declined.
A Republic must always remain diligent; must NEVER let their guard down.
Has the “Great Experiment” of 1776 failed? Is this nation in the throes of death?
Do we celebrate on the 4th of July in 2018 or should we mourn?
Matt,
It appears that your post was cut off.
